Gambler Wheels - $400 worth it?

Hey,

Yeah, I'm counting my eggs before they hatch, lol.

Just doing something to keep me a bit busy before taking a look at a Wrangler this weekend.

So I don't have one yet but looking at the following..

It currently has some stock rim/wheels below:

This is one I want to get - I know it's another stock rim

I can pick up the rims for $200, I'll have to get them shipped for like $120, and to get them installed/balance - $90..

$410???

Thoughts?

$400 for something you may/will change out if you go to bigger tires.. nope.. keep the canyon rims and use the money for other upgrades.

Yeah, apparently going rate is half..and I'll be paying double for stock. So I'll leave it.

Random, but why is that wheel so dirty - what's the orange stuff, rust, dirt, brake dust?

Will something like mother's take that off?

Sorry but the only exp with wheels I had before this is chrome and they never got that way.

And I will not be putting chrome on the jeep, lol.

It's just rust and dust. If you wanted to when you get a chance, jack it put it on jack stands pull the wheel off, brush off the rust and clean it up then spray a light coat of high heat paint on the drums, (what ever color you want) tape the stud threads though. I had Gamblers on mine when I bought it. I have since bought new wheels and tires. the new wheels aren't very expensive and have less backspacing which allowed extra space for bigger tires, if you get the gamblers and want tires bigger than 30x9.50x15, you'll need to buy wheel spacers too. for the same price you could have bought new wheels with less backspacing.

Sorry 'bout that, I thought you were talking about the brake assy. now I see the back edge of the wheel, it should just be brake dust and or dirt. it should just clean off with some soap water elbow grease.

Too bad we dont live closer i have those stock 5 hole rims and im looking for canyon rims. We could have traded :/
I wouldnt pay 200 for stock rims nor would i pay for shipping (idk about around you but there are jeeps all over where i live). I see factory canyons with tires on cl for 200-300 depending on tire condition. Though i dont really see the 5 hole rims I have much...

I see stock rims selling for 100 a set all the time. Even the newer Moab wheels are running under 200. If you really want new rims go aftermarket.

Yeah, I'm leaving it as is - I'm looking at another Jeep that's in better condition..the stock wheels are canyon but they look a lot cleaner then the other wheels.

I was surprised but I looked at a few forum polls and canyons were in favor to like 31:17.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

The part that left me scratching my head: $90 for mounting/balancing?! That's nuts.

Def not! Get some nicer wheels for the money!

But then again, I despise those rims with a passion.

Yea, I've seen my wheels on sale for $80, after I already got them. they've got enough backspacing to look good with 31's or 33's and clear with out rubbing issues.
