Welcome to the WF!

Colder air is denser than hot and that means you can shove more air into each cylinder on each stroke.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. James 3:17 (KJV)

I don't think the high mileage matters. The engine will run better with a cold air intake whether it is brand new or with 200k. However, that doesn't mean you are going to see a huge difference in your mileage or power.

It most likely won't make a difference. Most CAIs, especially for Jeeps filter poorly and pull their air from right over the hot engine. You won't be getting any "cold air" in your CAI unless you have a snorkel (which is a whole different issue), or reroute the intake to pull air from under the cowl. Regardless, the stock intake can supply more air than the engine can physically pull in.
