Key to finding a 15" wheel that fits for sure?

I have been close to buying some Cragar Soft 8s but have heard very inconsistent reports about whether they will rub the calipers or not on a stock 07 JKX. The Cragars are 4" back spaced 15x8. Seems like i have yet to hear anyone with a 15x8 and 3.75" back space say that they experienced any rub. Sooooo, is that the magic, just get 3.75 or less back spacing and voila? Man I hope it's that simple.

My plan is to get the wheels and some 33x12.5 Duartracs since everyone seems to really love them and I need something that can do duty as a DD and some wheeling. I'm also planning on adding a Teraflex or Rough Country 2.5 BB. Does this sound like a solid start for someone just getting into off road?

With the 15" wheels, its not necessarily the backspacing that causes the issues. It's that the inside ring of some wheels actually hit the brake caliper. Some can be fixed simply with a small amount of grinding on the caliper. Others simply won't fit. Seems like it is typically the steel wheels, such as the Cragar you are looking at, that can cause issues. Also seems like it can be hit or miss on if you will encounter issues or not. My guess is that the tolerances can vary in the manufacturing process of these wheels.

My recommendation would be to go with one of the aluminum wheels that has been proven to fit without issue. Something like the MB72s or Level 8 Tracker have similar styling to the Soft 8. You can also look into the Black Rock 909s or MB Chaos 5. All of those wheels range in backspace from 3.33" to 4".
