Mickey Thompson MTZ or ATZ ?

Think I've narrowed my tire choice down to Mickey Thompson MTZ p3 or ATZ p3 size 315/70r17. These are for a 17 JKUR. These will be used in the southwest desert environment. Daily driver. Through the week 20 miles round trip. And we are pretty much every weekend off road. There are plenty of rocks on trails but no extreme rock crawling for me. From what I've read these are both made from the same compound. So I would expect wet weather (monsoon season) to be similar between them? Will the MTZ have a similar life as the ATZ ? Would the MTZ be better on rocks than ATZ ? Or are they so close as to not be noticeable? I like the more aggressive look of the MTZ.

The MTZ could potentially be better on serious rock obstacles like steps and ledges. Whether you would need the potential advantage afforded is tough to say. With a good amount of road miles and highway travel and not much major rock crawling, I would suspect you would be happier with the ATZ.

I have Duratracs which are reputed to be pretty un-durable, but they have held up well against AZ granite, albeit with a ton of chipping and chunking. The ATZ should be plenty durable, and should have plenty of traction for most trails from Sedona to Parker.
