Need advice on upgrading tires and wheels

Hello everyone! I am buying new tires and wheels and am looking for advice to make sure I get the right sizes. Here is what I am looking at:

https://www.extremeterrain.com/fuel-...617902645.html
17 in

https://www.extremeterrain.com/goody...ratracxtw.html
33" - 255/75R17

I have a 2012 stock wrangler unlimited. Based on what I have read online 33in tires should fit without rubbing the fenders with 17 in wheels, with 4.5 or less backspacing.

Also, it's 6 lug wheel, my current wheels are 5 lug, does that many any difference when installing the new ones to the jeep?

I am a newbie, any and all advice and education is greatly appreciated

My wrangler is white and I think the black and white contrast of these wheels will look very pretty!

Thanks!

6 lug will not fit a 5 lug. Good choice on the tires.

First an fyi, that tire size is not 33". The site is wrong. 255/75-17 is the stock 32" tire size. It actually says 32" diameter in their own chart on that page. <b>285/70-17</b> will get you 33" (technically 32.7", but close enough). The price will change significantly between them, just so you know.

And not sure where you are seeing 6 lug, but those specific wheels from Extreme Terrain will fit your JK.

If you really like those wheels, and you don't mind doing a little hunting, I would suggest them in 17x8.5" (Part #D54617850552). Those have a 5.25" backspace, which I can testify should not rub at all with 32 or 33" tires. The narrower width will also look better with either size of Duratrac tire, because their tread is designed a little narrower than most in the same size.

Despite all that, if you ordered the 17x9 wheel and 33" (285/70-17) Duratracs from Extreme Terrain, you will have an excellent package that should fit without issue and work very well offroad (if that matters .

I absolutely love Duratracs, and if you do anything in the snow, they are excellent. I have owned a few sets now and will probably continue to buy. Aggressive but yet pretty quiet on the road. Good luck!

Are you confident that this setup will not rub anything? The 17x9 does have 4.5 in backspacing, so I thought it would be better? Thank you so much for your advice!

Yeah, mathematically, those will have the exact same clearance as my 285/75-16 on 16x8 wheels with 5" backspace (13mm offset). I have not rubbed at all making u-turns on the street, or 8-pt turns on the trail, or with the front swaybar disconnected. I do have a mild lift with the stiffer springs, but everything else is stock.

The 4.5 backspace 17x9 will sit 1" farther out. I don't believe that you would rub with that setup either. Many are running larger tires with no rubbing. Perfectly suitable setup if you prefer the wider stance.

If you are going with the 285x70r17 tires I would buy the wheel with 4.5 backspacing.

I had that combo previously and it worked well plus looked great. If you go with 5.0-5.5 backspacing you will rub when you turn the wheel all the way.
