97 TJ thinking maybe just a 2.5" suspension lift. What is best size tires/wheels to make it look right?

Well, what are you most concerned with The "look" part or the "right" part?

For good driving manners, minimal component wear, and good traction, you should run a 235/85r16 on some stock 16x7 wheels. Stay skinny and narrow.

Why skinny and narrow? I am putting 16" rims on it.

Skinny for traction. Narrow track for maneuverability, ground clearance, reliability/wear, cost...
