What type of wrangler? TJ? JK? Generally, the rim width should be OK - the offset will determine how well it will fit without rubbing.

a 9" rim is perfect for a 35" tire so the only issue will be what backspacing do you have? the tire will fit the rim no problem

I am confused by this as well. I just got a 2.5" lift with 18x9 XD Cranks's with 33" tires. I love it, but was wondering if I can go to 35" next time and keep the same rim. I'm not a necessarily a truck guy and am new to all this. When I had mine installed, the dude didn't mention anything about backspacing. Glad to read that 35"s will fit. Guess I'll just address the backspacing problem if it comes up later.
