Spare not balanced ??

Is it normal for tire installers not to balance the spare?
Just got 5 KO2 315/70R17 installed and noticed there are no weights on the spare.
Is this normal practice? The install included lifetime balance/rotation, so maybe they just think they will do it when they rotate the tires.
Will of course contact them about it. Was just wondering if it is normal practice.

I'm guessing the tech was lazy, or possibly that the tire didn't require weight (fairly unlikely). It doesn't make much sense to have an unbalanced spare though. I would take it in and see what they say.

Perhaps it didn't need balancing. We can only speculate. They should've balanced each tire regardless.

Take it back and ask. They may have missed it. Some tires don't require any weights but that is usually the heavy toyo and nitto tires from my experience.

It wasnt balanced at all. As a matter of fact it needed a ton of weight - 34 pieces = 8.5 OZ, so it looks like crap because of the way the spare has to be oriented due to my backup camera.

If they put 34 weights on it, they have ZERO clue what they are doing! Go somewhere else, FAST!

On a 35 tire I disagree, Also given that I have this same tire and 2 or 3 of mine needed 8-8.25oz to balance. (I had them spun 180 degrees and rebalanced to check).

OP, you can always balance with beads...air soft BBs, or the magical tire balancing variety. No stick on weights and it just plain works. If I ever change wheels, thats the direction Im going.

I would be buying a different brand of tire if they are always 8 oz off! That is unacceptable even for a 35" tire.
