Super Swamper TSL SX2 help

I am having problems with balancing a set of super swampers.... lol. My friend recently purchased a set of 37x12r16 TSL SX2s. I personally have the TSL Boggers in a 35x16r15 flavor. I was able to balance mine out on a set of Basset 15x12 beadlock wheels with about 20oz of BBs, that method works for me.

His case is a disaster. Against my advice, he went ahead and bought the tires. Sold his old used tires to do it so no turning back. He had them mounted at a shop, no balancing whatsoever decided it was ok to drive. His steering trembled into a death woble type senario starting at 20mph becoming undrivable at 30mph.
He asked me to come over to try to balance his tires with the BB method. Went all the way up to 45oz starting from 5oz and all day adding 5-10ozs testing unmounting mounting and so forth, there was improvement but still not driveable. 45oz of bbs is extreme to me and I did not want to pass that thresh hold.

One thing that is out of place and concerns me is that Interco calls for a 16x10 inch wheel. He is running those tires on a 16x7. I think that plays a big roll. Any suggestions on whate else to try? Local shops want 150-200$ for trying to balance them, TRYING, NO GUARANTEES THAT IT WILL BE DRIVABLE JUST PAYING FOR THE ATTEMPT.

I had a problem with them on my truck and it also has narrower rims also. The problem went on for quite a while I found out that they were out of round some. So I found a company that shaves tires to make them round. I had to dismount the tires and they picked them up with there service truck while they were in the area, they serve ups Truck tires. They brought them back to me and said one was worse than the rest but they trued them all as they were out some $44.00 the best money I spent for peace of mind What a difference. Google tsl out of round Good Luck

with all that meat I can't imagine how difficult it would be to mass produce them, and have them all be true. I'd get 'em shaved first, then balanced before I looked at wider rims.

You tried to help so I think it may improve a little to balance but it wont be the best it can be without shaving. A friend of mine calls them square tires

Back in the day I had a set of T-birds on my YJ and they looked really cool but sucked. anything above 55 and the jeep wanted to crash its self. It took a long time for my friend to balance them. He first had to check the balance of the wheels, then try and balance the tires. Lots of filling and deflating. Keep us posted on the perfect balance job.

End post to close this thread. As a result of this whole debacle I lost a friendship.

What happened in the end was that the shop that attempted to balance them couldnt but they claimed I ruined the tire by using BBs. IMO that is not true because I have had success with the BBs on my tj and have periodically inspected them to be sure they werent damaging the wheel or tire he didnt go even 2 miles. My guess is that they just wanted to justify their failure.

FYI, after consulting with Interco and other tire balancing solution companies. I discovered that the TSL SX2 is the only model Interco has made overseas. They have experienced manufacturer defects in this new line of tires and a warrantying them offering refunds or exchanges. Be aware

Well, If your friend can't do a little of his own research and figure out that the tire shop is full of $#!* then he might not be the brightest bulb on the xmas tree. They have been putting BBs in tires for years! If he thinks that having some BBs in the tire for 2 miles are going to cause massive damage he's a Cool Aid drinking Tool! Remind him that something designed to run around on asphalt with 2 tons of metal on top of it and a couple hundred horsepower pushing is not going to be damaged by a few BBs. Think of the stresses of lowering air pressure to 6 PSI and running them around over boulders and ledges does? BBs damaging tires? I don't think so....

I use BB's to balance ALL my tires!
From my new car and my new truck to my 1 ton dually truck. Even my jeep on 39.5 Irok's and my Can-Am X3's... never a problem.

Your now ex-friend is an idiot..
