Ultra Wheels and Kelly Safari TSR

Any advice on Ultra Wheels (black Rogue 175) with a set of 285/70/17 Kelly Safari TSR's with a 2 inch lift? Looking to have these installed on my 2011 JK Wrangler.

A member named Daniel_M has the Kelly's, and loves em. They're made by Goodyear, and are styled to be a less expensive version of the DuraTracs. I don't know how well they perform in snow, rain, mud, etc.

Maybe somebody who uses em can chime in.

The rims I've never heard of.

Thanks, was trying to decide between the Duratracs and the Kelly tires. Sounds like the Kellys are a bit quieter as it is our DD .

They're also significantly less expensive. IIRC, Dan mentioned in a recent post that he could get 35" Kelly's locally for $177/tire. By contrast, I bought my 35" DT's at the best online price I could find, which was right around $220/tire.

Big difference when you multiply by 5. Especially when you're planning on buying rims, too.

Also, why buy 17" rims? Most of us who run bigger tires go with 15's (I've got 16's...for specific reasons). You can buy a set of 15" rims with tires for LESS $$ than you'll pay for the tires for 17" rims alone.

Make sense?

Two things about 15" rims. MOST of the alloy rims in that size will fit your Jeep without rubbing the calipers; MANY of the steel rims won't. Easiest way to find out what works and what doesn't is to PM the Discount Tire Direct (DTD) rep here on the forum. Or, if you're impatient like me, just call their 800 #. They can tell you exactly what will work and what won't. Make sure you tell em you're a member here.

Don't let the fact that you're in love with the Ultra Rogue 175's (or whatever) cost you a bunch of needless $$ when you could probably find an equally loveable rim in the 15" size, and put the savings toward other mods. Or food. Or electric bills.

That's cuz it's a 17. You're always gonna get hosed buying tires for rims 17" and up.

That's why I run 35" DT's on 16" rims. If they'd made em for 15" rims, that's what I'd be running.
