I'm a recent new Jeep owner with my 2003 TJ Sport and, once the weather starts to warm up, the first thing I think I'm going to be doing is replacing the wheels and tires. Right now it's on the stock ones and, while I'm pretty sure they have a bit of life left in them, they're just small and... boring.
For my first summer with the Jeep I don't expect to be doing too much hardcore modding to it - I'd like to switch the axle to a D44 or 8.8, but I don't plan on lifting it and instead going on some stock runs with a club so I'm thinking I should get 31", that's the generally accepted max size to not rub right?
I don't drive much anyway, so I'd say this will probably be 80% street/20% trail, with the street so low just because it's not a DD or anything.
So all that said, I've been looking at wheels on Quadratec. I'm not really familiar with general pricing of wheels and tires as up to this point I've only bought sets of 4 street tires (and no wheels to match), but this 5 tire deal
is one they seemed to be pushing pretty hard and, at least from a glance, they both look capable and, because looks matter, badass.
So I guess my questions are thus:
1) Are those tires, the 31x10.50R15, able to be used on my unlifted, stock TJ without issue?
2) Given my needs (stock trail use, some casual street driving) am I shooting too high with what I'm looking for?
3) If I were to buy them, is putting them on and making them usable as simple as just removing my current wheels and bolting those on or are there further steps I'm going to have to take? Remember I'm new to this.
4) Should I buy anything else along with that, assuming I'm starting from scratch?
