The sidewalls are reliable without the tire being real heavy. These are great tires. :thumb: Had I come across this set of tires in my area, I would have definitely sought them out. I spent $500 for my current set of BFGs. I took them off road yesterday, but the entire time I was worried about losing a sidewall - not so much with these tires.
I live in the Midwest so not many serious rocks around (I could be mistaken) Trails are more mud and snow. I think the seller said they've got 25k, so wear and terrible road manners are my main concern, but from the photos they look pretty good.
I commute on my motorcycle from April to first freeze so this is mainly a winter/weekend kid hauler/toy. I found a hunting club near my home that charges $10 to go off road on 150 acres. There was a big rainstorm Friday and my ATs turned into mud balls and didn't clear at all.
I have run TrXus MTs from 2003 - 2013 (with BFG AT/KOs and BFG MT/KMs for a combined 4 months, in between). They work okay in muddy situations - they really aren't a dedicated mud tire like the TSL-SX. For rocky trails, pavement, dirt, and light mud, they do great. Of those 10 years, I only had 1 trail puncture from a sharp stick on a beach down in Mexico.
2004 - On moderate rocky trails, they perform well without blowouts or punctures.
2005 - They work great on the sand when aired down to about 14 psi.
2005 - I briefly ran BFGs back to back, but then went back to the TrXus MT after receiving a trail puncture.
2012 - They survive rocky trails like 'Gold Mountain' without much worry.
2013 - I sold my last TrXus MT after buying BFG AT/KOs for $500 This spare went for $25 with only 2/32nds of tread.
I got about 35,000 miles out of my last set. They were purchased new in November 2007. I 'wheeled them heavily from Nov. 2007 - Jan. 2013.
