Wait for MT/R or buy something else?

Ordered some Goodyear MT/Rs (35s) to replace my Duratracs (just a change of pace) but got a notice this am that they are backordered 3-4 weeks. Not a huge ordeal unless they continue to get pushed back further and further. That said, would you wait for them or is there a really good alternative I should look at in the same price range. FWIW, I got the MT/Rs from Tire Rack for $215/tire.

i was in the same situation recently.

I had finally made my decision to go with the MT/R and had placed an order to wait until mid September. Then South Carolina roads decided to wreck my KM2's to a point that I had to have something.

All of the threads I read here include a really spirited debate on MTR vs KM2, and its tough to pick a clear winner. Tire Rack's survey's say KM2 has better reviews, and I had been very happy with my set of 35000 mile KM2's so I took advantage of 4wd.com's sale price and free shipping and bought 5 new 35 BFG MT KM2's instead of waiting.

I don't think you'd be upset with either, but I'm not sure it was worth the extra $200 and 3 weeks for the MT/R's.

I haven't had the best of luck with the build quality of Goodyear MTR/K's. Don't get me wrong they hook up decent and have decent sidewalls but when you have a brand new one with cords popping through the sidewall or another one that makes your rig drive funny depending on where you put it what's the point?

If they weren't so cheaply made I would buy them again, but that's not going to happen. I have a feeling it's due to how much demand there is they are just trying to get them out the door.

Was in the same boat. Tried ordering a set awhile back and it was a month wait. Went with the Cooper STT pro's. Couldn't be more happy.

I didn't even know those existed, I ran the old STT's and loved them, but wanted something a little more durable for the rocks this time around.

Those STT pro's look like just the ticket, anyone want some MTR's? I wouldn't hesitate to run those tires.

Cooper STT Pro's. Have had mine on a couple of months with several wheeling trips. They perform great.

Thanks guys! I actually went for the Cepek Mud Country's since I'd already ordered the MT/Rs through Tire Rack and they didn't have the Coopers. I've heard nothing but good about the STT's so depending on the Cepek's do, that may be my next one!
