what's this patch on my tire?

I've noticed this spot on my tire recently and I'm starting to get concerned. The tires are 35"x12.5" Goodyear Wrangler MT/R w/ Kevlar sidewalls. I bought the tires used, with less than 2,000mi and some offroading on them, from the owner of Javier's Auto Unlimited in Houston. When I looked the tires over I don't recall seeing this patch. I first noticed it a few months ago and just thought it was a scuff from bumping a curb or something. I had the Jeep cleaned up to take pictures as I was considering selling and I thought it would go away but it hasn't. The sidewall does not bulge at all as if there were a puncture/tear from the inside. I'm hoping it's nothing. Worst case I'll throw this wheel/tire on the back as the spare. Thanks!

That is some bad scuffing. The seller probably used some forever black to hide it. Now that you washed the jeep it washed off. I would use the tire as a spare at this point. I bet the tire was dragged for 2000 miles.

I am going to see if I can get GY to warranty the tire. It'll likely end up as the spare, though.

Thanks.

It's a scuff, no tears or cuts, it's fine. You've been driving on it for a month before you noticed it don't worry about it now.
