Wheel tire combo

Ok ive been reading alot of threads about wheels and tires lately because i want to get rid of my stock wheels and eventually do the tires. I have 17" wheels and was planning on sticking with that but from reading these threads it seems that my best bet would be to downgrade to a 15" wheel and just get a larger tire which would be cheaper. I have a 2012 sport and having been looking at tires lately and really like the duratracs so lets say i decide to get those to fit a 15" wheel which tire would be the biggest i could fit WITHOUT having to put spacers or a lift and wouldnt have any rubbing. Also what dimensions of a 15" wheel would i be looking for to fit the tire?
Thanks
TJ

On a stock JK you can for a 33x12.50x15 with a little trimming of the air dam.

As far as wheels go, the only ones that will fit over your calipers are alloys and you'll want a 15x8 with 4.5" of backspacing (I think)

Here is a great thread about that combo

MB72s with 33x12.5x15 Duratracs fit with absolutely zero mods needed. I can 100% confirm that.
