Wheels - Black Rhino Armory VS Mammoth General Matte?

I know I want 35ís (315x70rx17) but I canít decide whether I should go with the Black Rhino Armory or Mammoth General Black Wheel. Price points aside I love the look of both. Only downside for the Black Rhino is that the reviews are low due to rust on the lugs.

Anyone have either of these?
If so, what tire did you choose?

Iím leaning toward the Falken tire below -

Black Rhino Armory Gunblack Wheel - 17x9.5

Mammoth General Matte Black Wheel - 17x9

The Black Rhino look more like real multipiece mil type wheels, but they are over 40lbs or maybe even 50lbs, depending on which comments/website you believe. Even 40lbs is heavy for one piece wheel. Then there's the complaints about the rusting. The 9.5'' width and backspacing puts the wheels ands tires outside the fender wheels by quite a bit, compared to the typical 8.5'' width and 4.75 backspacing of some options.

I like the simple faux look of the Mammoth a lot. And only 26lbs! The Mammoth seems to be painted vs powdercoated so I suppose the finish is not very durable. Looks like they had a recall last year: https://oemdtc.com/1415/wheels-may-c...e-black-wheels

I'm glad you posted the Mammoth cause I'm also looking for new wheels this week and may jump ship from XD135 Grenades to Mammoth Generals.

The Armory's are heavy. My hobby shop loves to put those on, he likes the 20's and with a 37" tire, damn... Can't hardly lift it to the spare tire carrier.

The Mammoth is definitely simpler looking and doesn't quite hit that full military style. I'd still say it's a nice wheel and other than the finish comments above, Mammoth wheels have a nice reputation for good stuff at a good price.

AT3W is a good tire choice. A little heavy, like the Ridge Grapplers, but both are top performers.

Here's a KMC XD wheel in a mesh design. I'm about to purchase a set of these this week, but as mentioned, I may go with the Mammoth General for the 26lbs and the width and offset which I like. XD 135 (KMC) Grenade 17x8.5, 0 offset , 4.75 BS. Black OR Bronze. 29 lbs. Also, Method Roost with same specs and weight, but 26lbs.

1.) All Black with Black faux ring
https://www.coloradofans.com/forums/...7-post713.html

2.) Bronze with Black faux ring - a short vid (elevator music! lol)
https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...0&&FORM=VRDGAR

3.) Or Method Roost in Bronze (available on Black also)

These are all solid comments and thank you for taking the time to respond! Leaning more toward the Mammoths since its lighter and no comments on rust. I get loving that KMC XD Wheel & Grenade Offroad style but I'm sold on the humvee look. I might end up hating this decision and the miltary/humvee style for my first upgrade to wheels but what can you do...

On the Mammoth do you think the 17x 9 width and backspacing will still put the wheels ands tires outside the fender wheels? Should I be considering the 16x8 to avoid this? If so, can i still fit the 315x70rx17?

PS - love stalking all your builds you place at the bottom of the comments.

If you go with the 16" wheels, you need to change to a 315/75-16 tire. Same overall size and look fantastic on a JK and also available and cheaper in the AT3W.

The 17x9 has a little more backspacing, but that is offset by the extra width. They are going to stick out a little, but not crazy at all. So choose based on whether you like smaller wheel and more tire and bigger wheel and less tire. More tire looks beefier...

This is the 16's with 315/75-16 tires.

@jarshumi

Thanks to your thread here, I jumped the fence and went with Mammoth Generals 17x9 vs KMC XD135 Grenades. Love the HUMMV look aka Rockmonster aka multipiece wheels. fyi most JK's get 17s vs 16s. Plenty of JKs running on 18s for that matter.

Forgot to mention I'm currently running Wildpeaks right now in 285/70/17. If I had to describe them with a single word, it'd be "quiet". The bigger/wider the size, the more aggressive they look imo. I see them all over the place here in FL. I got the C or iirc its a P sidewall. Lightweight tire for the road, but not good for rough trails and rocks. Been very happy with them for past 2 yrs or so. Couldn't believe how quiet they were and still are, even with half the tread gone or so.

Got a new set of 295/70/17 (Dick Cepek) stacked up in the garage and ready to mount when the wheels get here next week.

I like the generals out of the two and you'll appreciate the lighter weight. I just picked up a set of Black Rhino overlands, and the 31 lbs per wheel almost kept me out of them, but only a couple of lbs heavier than the ones I am running.

They should look really good.

I went with the 16x8 Generals and they look even better in person! I'll send more updates once I get them on some 35's. Click image for larger version

Falken Wildpeaks are a great tire. I've been running them for a couple of months, aired them down to 31-32 psi and they are quiet!
