i have a 3 pc freedom hard top on my '08 Wrangler, a fellow jeeper friend has a 2014 Wrangler with a frameless fastback soft top...we are wondering if we swapped tops, would they be compatible or no? Any info is greatly appreciated before we both drive 6 hrs to meet only to find it won't work!

Well the Trektop NX is for 2007-2018 JK, so the soft top should fit.
Google freedom tops, see if they list 2007-2018, or have any strange breaks in the year.
I know the only visible difference from my 08 to my 12 was how they latched to each other, everything else looked pretty much the same IIRC.
Good luck.

There was an interior redesign in 2011, so there are differences between '07-'10 and '11-'18.

Crucially, the center footman loop above the windshield moved to the left. If the soft top does not use the center loop, then the chances of a '11-'18 soft top fitting on '07-'10 are very good. I'm sure someone else will chime in here if there are other differences.

Even if a particular soft top does use the center loop, then for '07-'10 you can purchase a relocation kit to move your loop to the left like '11-'18. The good news '07-'10 Freedom Tops work in any year because they don't attach to the center loop anyway (instead, they latch to each other).

The soft top should fit just fine. It's the hard top that is more of an issue. As mentioned, the footman loop was moved, and the attachment of the freedom panels was changed. Never having been around an early freedom panel, I'm not sure what the differences are.

There were also changes to the rear quarter windows, but that would not affect the fitment. I think the later tops had slightly larger windows.

If it is a true Bestop Trektop NX (there are similar tops from other manufacturers) it should have the name embossed in each window along with a sticker in the rear window. In that case you can download the installation instructions from the Quadratec website.

Four Door: https://www.quadratec.com/sites/def...56853-35-Trektop-NX-Plus-Jeep-Wrangler-JK.pdf

Two Door: https://www.quadratec.com/sites/default/files/installation_instructions/56852_B.pdf

Most of us who have been in Jeeps a while are familiar with Quadratec. They are a WF supporting vendor and offer members a discount when ordering. You do have to call them to get set up in their system after which the discount is automatic on most items.

They only sell Jeep related items and have very good customer service.

Be advised that there are several levels of Bestop Trekton NX tops for the JK/JKU. Levels (and features) vary from the Plus to the Pro to the Glide.

There are videos on Quadratec to show the features of each version. There are videos on YouTube to show how to install each top. I love my Trektop NX on my TJ it replaced a traditional soft top which had good fabric but the 15 year old frame was no longer stable.

Work with Bestop to get the instructions. The Pavment Ends tops come with the fabric, the two rear quarter windows and the rear window. It is intended to go onto a Jeep that already had a soft top and would reuse many of the parts from that top. Since the top is already on the other Jeep, you would be ahead of the game with door surrounds, header bar, tailgate bar and etc.

You would need to get a copy of the installation instructions unless the other owner still has theirs. Of course if you part the two Jeeps side by side one weekend day, you can swap tops. There is still the answer of they latching of your freedom panels on their windshield frame.

I note the description in your link states that top is for a 2010-2017 JK. I am not sure what changes may have been made between 2009 and 2010 in the fitment of a PE Sprint Top. You might want to ask Bestop if that top can be installed on your 2008.

Wikipedia says 2010 got a new easier-to-fold/open soft top. The differences might just be in the door surround / bow / bar / etc hardware that adonahoo would also be obtaining, so as long as all the hardware is coming over it might work... or the differences might make it a no-go for '07-'09. :( Bestop is probably the best bet to answer that question, be sure to mention you'll be using 2010+ hardware.

EDIT: I see that the top requires "factory-style door surrounds and windshield channel". I've never been inside a Jeep with a soft top, does the factory windshield channel use the center footman loop? Doesn't look like it, seems to fit all JK years: https://www.bestop.com/products/windshield-channel-for-07-18-jeep-wrangler-jk/
