2 Door Cargo Mat

I have a 2016 Rubicon with the subwoofer in the floor. Already miss the storage tray. Weathertec sells a cargo tray for the two door without the subwoofer. Will this alter the sound quality from the subwoofer? Also, I think I saw an earlier post showing a four door Mopar cargo mat being used in a two door. Would it be better to buy this mat and possibly cut it to fit?

I wouldn't cover up the Sub if you care about sound quality. I couldn't find a mat that covered the back of a 2 door with the seat removed so I bought an $8 black rubber backed carpet mat From Menards and cut to fit. I believe it was a 4x6 foot mat and it didn't have any edges so it cut clean. I left a little extra on the sides to protect the side panels and cut out a hole for the sub. Not fancy but it's black, it fits, and is easy to cut with some scissors.

Subs emit low frequency waves, which are mostly unaffected by direction or objects. This is why automakers place them under carpeted trunk floors and the like.

Having said that, the waves from your sub could vibrate against a flat, stiff surface like the back of a plastic cargo cover, adding unpleasant reverberations to the music sound.

If you end up covering the sub, you may want to make sure the area touching the speaker is carpeted or covered in some sort of felt-like material.
