2" Tube Mount CB Antenna Help?

Hey,

So I've spent the last half an hour or so looking online for a mount that will let me attach a CB antenna to my rear 2" tube bumper, but found nothing suitable.

Anyone have an inside scoop on where I can find a 2" tube mount, or another way of solving it? I'd like to keep it in the back rather than the front, and I also want to keep it as low as possible while being big enough to get decent reception as I often go through some thick brush that would enjoy snapping some non-protected CB antennas.

Thanks!

It would probably be best to get some sort of bracket instead of mounting directly to the tube. Should be easy to do it that way.

Look at the Hi lift mounts, I'm sure you could bolt a bracket for the cb antenna to one of those.

I like the idea about the HiLift adaptation.....I have made a bracket out of PVC heavy wall tee...saw it in two radiator clamps with set screws though them have served me with long whips. For Ham radio....don't forget the grounding....it's half of the antenna

You don't want to have too short or an antenna this will just cause poor reception. Spend the dough to get a decent mount and make sure its grounded correctly.

One easy hack is to buy a so-called "mirror mount" at a truck stop, then get 4 longer bolts at nearest ACE Hardware. This provides the right socket automatically.

My mount's pictures are here:

It's an ARR right-hand mount. I just use a flexible tip that is not hurt when hitting branches.

If you have access to a welder, or someone who does, try this. I took a piece of steel and cut it to fit perfectly to the top side of the spare tire bump stop. Welded it in place, cleaned it and painted it to match my Jeep. I drilled the right size hole for the antenna fitting, this case a 102" steel whip, and made sure it had a real good ground. The bump stop makes a great protector for the cable fitting and the antenna sits just right. Hope this helps. It has worked great for me.

I tried a similar installation, but was tired of the whip hitting the hardtop. It apparently did not damage anything, but was extremely irritating. That's how the ARR mount came about.
