2009 Sahara 4 door new wheel question

Hi All!

My tires are starting to get pretty bad time for some new shoes. I have the standard boring wheels and figured hey lots of folks sell wheels online because they swap the stock ones asap.

THese 2 listings look to be the same thing but 1 is wayyyyyyyy cheaper. These wheels are the same size as mine 255/70/r18 does that mean I am gtg from a fitment standpoint?

So weird why the one is so cheap

$899
https://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/w...033599261.html

$350
https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/wto/7030318528.html

Thoughts?

The Sahara wheels in the first link appear to be pretty mint, while the ones in the second link show what may be some rock rash. The second set also looks to have had some damage polished out in a half *ssed manner.

Sometimes, there is no rhyme or reason to how people price things on craigslist. You'll find people wanting top dollar for things (and sometimes priced greater than worth on the used market), and other things priced better than right. The degree to which the seller wants the items gone will sometimes affect the price. I've had my share of issues with craigslist over the years. I put up a few factory Jeep radios a couple of years back, "free to good home" i.e. come and get them, take them away. I had multiple replies from someone who said they wanted them, only to have them call back after standing me up, demanding I deliver them to their place of work an hour away...screw that noise. While I can't understand the psychology of why people do what they do, some people have funny expectations.

Sahara and Rubicon wheels (and even the steel or aluminum Sport versions) are often priced all over the map- between craigslist and Facebook Marketplace, you'll probably see a set turn up with the right condition and price if you commit to checking in frequently and are willing to pay up quickly when the price is fair.

^^ those look decent, though the tires have limited life (and yes, 17's will also bolt up- if the outside diameter of the tires remains the same, speedo will be accurate)

https://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/p...031962364.html

^^ these look nice too

https://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/p...027790333.html

^^ an older version of the Sahara wheel (before the pockets got painted Granite Crystal by the factory)

https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/w...029063821.html

^^ a newer set off a JL, priced attractively

Do you really want 18" wheels? There are three OEM styles that I know of. The original JK/JKU Saharas had 18" five spoke wheels. Those are probably the ones you have. At some point, the stock Sahara wheels became the ones in your post. However, during that time there was an optional wheel which was an 18" 7 spoke polished wheel. That is the wheel that came on my '15 Sahara. They were better looking, IMHO, and I have never seen them listed on CL. (They may be in other areas of the country).

You can also easily mount the 17" wheels found on the Rubicons with the original LT255/75R17 tires. The P255/70R18 tires and LT255/75R17 tires are both 32" tires, so you would not need to reprogram the computer.

You can also mount the 18" wheels off of a JL. The JL lugs are the same pattern as the JK. The lug bolts are a tiny fraction larger (14mm) but the holes for the lugs is suitable for either Jeep. You would use your lug nuts as the JL lug nuts will not fit your lug bolts.

Hey thanks so much for the replies, yes I have the 18 inch standard 5 spoke wheels, nothing fancy. My kids will be the main driver now that they are teens so I dont care if the wheels are a bit scuffed I figure I can get some new rubber maybe for cheap. If they are the newer looking wheels that would be kinda cool just for a change from my basic wheels.

Let me look at all these links tonight at home, thanks for letting me know about all my options! I'm kind of a rookie when it comes to these things.

Which two?

I am on the other side of the continent, but suspect you could report or flag the listings on your end.

So far the last one is a scam, they emailed me back, hey send me your address and name and we can work it out on ebay, I got divorced and moved out of state and I need the money etc..... when I get 100% confirmation I think one of the others is BS as well but the last one 100% is garbage

Sorry about that, they were just random listings on craigslist that I searched up from the we(s)t coast. No way for me to tell how legitimate they might be from here

Oh it's not your fault at all, it looks 100% legit. I think that other one with the good price is likely a scam as well, or just a killer price? I emailed three times and no reply.

Scammers usually dont include the email addy so you have to email them.

The original one I posted for $899, I think he is gtg for $750, they are brand new. Seeing as new rubber is gonna cost $800 this seems like a sweet deal. Even if I have to get new tpms it's still a real nice deal I think, or is there anything I'm missing?

He has his own shop in the south burbs here in Chicago so it seems legit. I'll meet him at his repair shop not like hey meet me at the mall or something.
