2014 JK at 40k Miles, Haven't done anything but Oil Change and Tire Rotation...

It just donned on me when I hit 40k, that I havn't done anything but oil changes and tire rotations since getting new. What other things should I have done as part of preventative maintenance. I have never taken it in anywhere as I do everything my self so no other eyes on it.

I will check the Diff Fluid and change the air filter, but should I take it in somewhere for other services? I am guessing brake checks, unless I can do that my self too. What else should I be looking out for?

Im over the top sometimes on maint but Id change the diff fluids, trans and t/c fluids. Fluids are cheap, trans and diffs arent.

Is that something that I could easily do? Is it like changing oil?

Pretty simple, just like oil for the most part.
Make sure the fluids are correct spec, and TAKE OUT THE FILL PLUG FIRST.
My 6yo does the swaps with me, he remembers all the steps. Pretty easy indeed.

I found a pump to be helpful in filling both diffs and the tcase.

Oh, and while you are down there, you could extend your breather hoses if you ever go off-road or axle-deep waters.
The extra length is peace of mind, and worm screw clamps assure you no leaks. Cheap peace of mind if it ever leaves pavement.

I did oil (every 5K), trans, diffs and transfer case at about 50K or so. I'm at 89,000 now and plan on doing all oils again when it warms up. My only advise is if you have an automatic pay someone to do the trans. Pain in the tail to get the three bolts on the back end of the trans pan back in. The diffs and transfer case are a piece of cake.

Your brakes should be checked when the tires are rotated. At only 40K assuming you don't drive in deep water, your trans and diffs are probably fine. Check your manual for service intervals.

Its prob one of the easiest things you can do, not much harder than changing engine oil imo
