2017 JKUHR private/trade-in value?

Looking at switching gears and shopping a GT350 soon (sorry to say, but miss the speed!). What range am I looking and what is my best option for selling?

2017 JKU Rubicon Hard Rock Edition
- Black
- 30k miles
- All options (except hard top)

Mods (by dealership)
- 2” mopar lift
- 35s (ko2) - 10k miles on them.
- red katzkin leather interior
- pioneer head unit
- updated control arms

Thanks!

To be honest, price out the Jeep on KBB, Edmunds, etc... to get a decent idea of private party and trade-in. Add up the Mods and multiply the number by 40% at most, probably more like 25-30%. Sum the two numbers and that should give you a decent ball park. Mods do not help sell the Jeep in most cases, and I suspect are not even considered in the dealer trade-in valuation.

Best to understand this going into the process.

Yeah it’s anywhere between 30k-36k on all those sites and autotrader/cars has them posted for around 37-45k.

You should post it for sale here. That's a solid starting point for lots of us offroaders. (scheming in my head....I could swap over my skids and rock sliders and bumper and winch and....)

Yeah. Not sure I want that attraction, but I did search the “for sale” section and seeing much higher asking prices than the online calcs.

I would be willing to bet very few vehicles actually get sold via the classifieds here. Parts on the other hand are sold like hot cakes.

I would think a good starting point for yours the way it is would be $36-37K depending on location and if you want to sell it or not. If you are missing speed I have a buddy who would trade you a pristine low mileage Z06 for it .

Yeah I’d love to do that, but 2 kids and needs the “option” of fitting them.

As we enter winter, the lack of a hard top could hurt sales. You will sell it, but possibly for less than you want.

Did 3 winters with the soft top. Really not that bad when you garage it. I’ve sold off hard tops on previous wranglers from around $1k

Go to the dealer who did the lift install and see what they are willing to give. They may be willing to bump the value a bit since they did the work and may keep it.

Dont tell them what you want to trade it in for... they calculate both ends to make a better deal for themselves. See what its worth as a trade in only.

It’s hard because I’m shopping a GT350. I’d like my trade-in value to help lower the tax I have to pay. (60k GT350 - 35k trade-in = 25k * 7% tax = $1750 instead of $4200 without a trade-in/buy at same dealership. So around a $2.5k tax benefit.

I can tell you that after a fair bit of haggling, I just picked up a like new 2017 Rubicon Recon 2 door in western NC for right at $30k.

It was fully loaded with 9,200 miles on it, and was flawless inside and out. I can't imagine the dealer paying any more than $28K to sell it to me at that price.

Yours is a 4 door, which are worth a bit more, but has higher mileage. In my experience mods don't add to the value for a dealer trade value.

So I suspect you'll get offered $28-$30K in trade. Maybe a bit more up north.

I would ball park it around 33-34K trade in at which point they will retail list it for 37K. I would get a bid from Car Max which gives you a solid starting point to negotiate the trade. For example, if you get 33K from Car Max, and the dealer you are buying from offers 32K, taking the 32K is a better deal due the tax savings you mentioned. Just my .02

I think it's worthwhile to get car max to quote it and then see what the dealer selling the Mustang will do for you. I've done this in the past and been enough disappointed that I kept what I had.

You may want to consider that Vette trade. I had a Factory Five Cobra (Shelby replica) for 11 years and then a Lotus Elise for another 4. I've got 2 kids. When I needed to take both of them, we took my wife's car.

My two bits.
Spend the $1,000 to buy a hardtop.
Sell it with the hardtop and offer the soft top to the buyer for $750 (depending on condition)
Or sell the soft top separately.

Locate some good used hardtops and then sell it with the offer add the hardtop or just have them do it. If Jeep dealers have used ones on the lots with new ones on the way, the trade in value will go down. Sell it yourself if you can, trade if you can't.
