The originals (I think) are over at: JLWrangerForums

(EDIT: it seems WF is blocking any reference to JL Wrangler Forums, by intentionally scrambling the URL link. )

And I think discussion here, might be better over in the Jeep Wrangler Forum - Jeep Wrangler Owners Community section, no?

I'm not going over to the JL forum, that's that new yuppie Jeep for soccer moms.

That sounded just like a TJ owner in 2006, didn't it?

Exactly, I bet over 90% of the JK guys don't even go over there. Lol

Lost the "Jeep" identity, but very "Chrysler".

Maybe it will be equipped with "rich, Corinthian leather" like the Cordoba.

I like it OK. I mean, does it really matter if the Wrangler is nicer inside, just so it's still a capable vehicle? It's not like the dashes have been weatherproof recently, anyway.

Also...Isn't there a JL forum for this stuff?

Just what I was thinking.

The interior could have come out of a car. Right down to the short throw shifter.
WTF are they thinking with that?

I disagree -- as a person without nearly enough interest to actually visit the JL Forum, I'd still like to read the occasional thread showing substantive new info about the model.

I'm sure the JL Forum itself is filled with minutia and speculation and the like. If I did check in it would be so occasionally that I'd have to read a lot of threads to try and find out where the latest info was.

You can pry my JL steering wheel from my dead body. There is no way I'm using the mind interface on the JM. Back in the old days when we wanted the Wrangler to so something we gave it verbal commands---and often it didn't understand.

Riding cross country with my buddies, we have to take the steering wheel as many as 4 times because the autoride failed!

Hovering over boulders at MOAB with the new Jet pack feature. I think not! Back in the day, we'd travel over those rocks in our air conditionined JL with the inflatable outer bubble in case we tipped over on trails. Those good old Jeeps actually got muddy for a while until we brought them back on road for the automatic car wash to kick in.

Do any of you remember when the windows came down? I heard, though I don't believe it, that some Jeeps had a hand cranked window...as if!!!!

Oh, buried my grand dad the other day--one of the first to own a JL. One of his peers tells this joke at the funeral, "Why'd the old guy gargle with Scope?" Answer: so he'd have blue tooth.

What on earth does that mean? Is it some old foggie double entendre?? ; - )

(Some future discussion)

Looks very modern. Like some of the new infotainment stuff. rest of the dash is ok and retro at the same time.

This will help FCA sell even more Wranglers to the general public, with a more modern and plush interior. If the outside is very, very similar to the JK/U, removable doors and roof, FCA has a HUGE hit.

Its not as much going over, but simply scrolling down to the JL section of this forum.

Sorry, but I think its better to talk about the JL in the JL section here, than in the JK section.

@WaltA even though I have you on my ignore list, I do check from time to time what you might say. You know I've been and said things over at those other forums and some how I've ended up here.

I for one (and my wife) do not care to see anything remotely related to the new JL wrangler. So for once or twice I'll agree with you on this and have the mods move this topic to where it should be moved in the first place.

I hate it. Looks like the inside of a minivan.....

I honestly like a Wrangler to be basic inside and don't want electronics and such. They do it to sell to the soccer mom's and golf dad's but to me it isn't a jeep.

FCA just took the J out of Jeep with that abomination.

Be glad there's forums especially dedicated to the JL and its new base because they won't be here polluting the Wrangler Forums. I will eventually be moving away from the brand when I'm done with my JKUR.

I had hope, but the bottom line is the design team didn't get it right.

I am going to have to disagree with people that feel the new Jeep interior has lost all of it's "Jeep identity." I think the new dash is very much a throwback to the older Jeep dashes I remember from my teens...with a little "mini cooper" flair thrown in for some reason.

What exactly is the "Jeep" identity?

Does the JK have the "Jeep" identity?

What about the JKU? I mean it does have 4 doors....thats not Jeep-ish at all!

Should we all be driving a Jeep from 1941?

Haters gonna hate, man. In 25 years, the JL will be the "old, tough guy Wrangler" with the basic, rugged interior, and JL owners will feel superior. Hell, it doesn't even have auto-pilot or a hologram projector!

I'm glad I got a '16 JK. It will take me 5-6 years to like the new model. It took me that long to like the JK. Hated the fenders so much and I did everything I could to make my build around the fenders this time. That interior is ugly. I like simple. Hell I even replaced my 430 with the 130 because I like actual buttons.

Agreed.

Too many gadgets is diluting the Jeep DNA of simple and true off road capability. If it weren't for the current Wrangler, Jeep makes nothing I would glance at, much less buy.

I'd rather the factory offer a Warn winch as an option than a "dual climate control" set up that belongs in a Chrysler 300.
