The 3L will clear some 35's...I think Inferno Girl ran her spare without a new 3L bracket. Probably depends on the tire/wheel combo.

But there are tons of other options, including a setup that puts the light in the center of your spare.

35 FEET is pretty big.

You might need to reinforce the tire carrier, even if it will fit. You might need a wheel spacer as well.

I just mounted 35's, BT Goodrich LT315/70R-17's on my new 2012 Sport. Like most 35's, per the BF specs say they are a little smaller at 34.4 inch. The attached photo shows how it looks.

With the new Method 8.5 inch x 17 wheel with proper offset my shop said it was ok mount the spare directly to the stock rear door without an aftermarket spare tire carrier (we were speaking in the context of my 2012, so I am not sure this applys to all JK's). With a stock wheel and a 35, they say I would have had to use a spare tire extender.

I know some manufacturers of bumpers say the stock rear door is not strong enough to support most 35's. My shop sends lots of vehicles out in my configuration. I went with their advice, I guess I will find out if they are right in the long run. No problems yet.

Hope this helps.

Opps, the middle of page three on this thread is better. Look for the before and after photos of the red Sport. Sorry.

Looks great Coaster. Your setup looks about the same as my '13 JK. Anyways, here is my rear tire blocking my 3rd brake light. I need to address this soon. I can't decide if I just want to remove it or buy the part to raise it into view. Any advice anyone? Tires are 315/70/17 Duratracs. Wheels are 17x9. If anyone could post a link to the specific part I would need that would be greatly appreciated.

An inexpensive option is the Smittybilt heavy duty tire carrier that includes a raised bracket for your brake light and will support a heavy spare...I was more concerned with breaking the stock bracket on the trail and leaving my spare somewhere.

My 35's Pro Comp 17 inch covered my third brake light. I put the Delta lights in the lug holes and removed the factory light and bracket when i put on my AEV tire carrier.
