568 miles on the brand new jeep and this happend

Last night on the way home I found a rock from a truck in front off me. Today I get the window replaced and touch up the paint.
Just under the passenger wiper blade.

Just had mine replaced on Tuesday with 1,100 miles on it. I was told it would happen a lot. I caught mine on dash cam. My reaction was instantaneous and priceless.

That happened too my JKU two days after purchase. The kicker is that I sold my old truck and was delivering it and the rock fell out of the back of my old truck and broke the windshield of new Jeep. Moving so fast no time too avoid it.

I didn't catch mine until just under 9,000 miles. What sucked was that I had gone out of my way to do something nice for my wife when mine caught the rock. Guess that's what I get for trying to be a great husband. lol. Would have never been on the road if not for her. But oh well. I'm sure it would happen eventually, it just sucked it happened then.

Damn, that's a big one! Sorry to hear. I think Jeep needs to make the windshield like the rear soft top window....removable and replaceable.

All in all though, I am glad it caught mostly glass or what ever that was would have left a nasty gash in my hood or a hole in my radiator.
Guess I got lucky?!?

Definitely. I wouldn't fix it yet. I have a 3 inch crack that has stayed steady. No way am I replacing a windshield. I have three impact craters in the paint. All in all, the windshield is much easier. Just part of the charm. Wouldn't trade it to be another tear drop shaped "SUV".

I broke a couple of windshields but carry full glass replacement on my insurance policies ---- some states do it automatically, some you pay extra. I pay extra...
But I get genuine glass, not the cheap crap they try to sell you.

I sold my truck immediately before driving to the Jeep dealership to buy my Jeep

I got my windshield replaced and the knick touched up and I thought I was good to go...but after driving this weekend I realize I now have a wind whistle that was not there before. Anyone else ever have this show up after a new window replacement?
They are suppose to come out and pull it and reseat it again thinking that is is not at the proper depth.

Finally Fixed and No Whistle

They pulled my window and reseated it again. They think there was to much adhesive as it sat to far out. Now it does not whistle and I am happy again...900 miles now and the Jeep is just like new again.

RiotRob, I bought my new JKU in October and a month later a truck kicked up a pebble on the highway and dinged my windshield. I haven't fixed it yet and it hasn't gotten any worse. I know as soon as I fix it I'll have it happen again so for now it's just my 1st scar on my new Jeep.

The 1st picture is a close-up so it's not as bad as it looks.

As common as this is, they should just give you a rock when you sign the paperwork and have you go throw it at the windshield to get it over with.

On day 2 of ownership I also got a semi throwing up a rock and now a nice chip and small crack. I used a Pep Boys windshield kit to fill it as best as possible and keep on rolling.

I replaced the windshield in my first jeep and it caught a rock within a week. My second jeep was starred when I bought it used, and within a couple of months I had another one. I was living in Arizona at the time and State Farm in AZ had stopped writing zero deductible glass coverage on new policies, probably because everyone in the world was getting free windshields every time they got a rock chip.

Both of these were after market windshields, so I was hoping that OEM would hold up a little better...

I guess its worse than getting it slung at you from the Jeep ahead of you on the trail.
It makes it YOUR Jeep. Not many people have a dent there,
Smile, we all get dings.

I may hold the record. When I picked up a brand new '08 Tundra on Jan. 3, 2008, I caught a rock less than a mile from the dealership which was 250 miles from home. I called my glass guy and he met me after hours at his shop as soon as I got back into Moab and filled it.

You win that has to be the fastest one yet. One competition I am glad not to be the winner.

Bummer - when you put your first ding in, you at least want it to be from doing something epic and off-road, right?
