Another Tire Question

Guys I know this has been talked about a ton, but I was hoping someone could tell me the largest tire size I can run on my 2012 Sport stock rims without a lift or wheel spacers. I am also considering the 15" rims and tire combo I have seen. Will 33x12.5R15 Goodyear Duratracs combo work without a lift, I have seen this posted a lot, just never clarified if there was a lift installed. I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a purchase and am trying to weigh all my options. Any other recommendations would be welcomed. As always Thanks!

Largest you can run on the stock wheels without even the slightest change of rubbing on-road would be 255/80/17 BFG KM2s. These are 33" tall, but only 10" wide, so you won't have any rubbing issues on the road. You may get a bit of fender contact offroad, possibly. You could do 285/70/17s, which are a tad over 11" wide, but you may would need to trim your airdam or put some washers on your steering stops.

As for the 15" size, yes, you can run the Duratrac combo (with properly backspaced wheels) without any on-road issues on stock suspension. However, you will definitely get into your fenders offroad with such a wide tire.

Thanks for the info, trying to decide which way I want to go. I keep telling myself I should run the stock tires until there life is up before upgrading but I don't like the look.

If you aren't happy with the stockers, just go ahead and upgrade.

And, just to nudge you in the smaller diameter rim direction, you can generally score 15" wheels AND tires for cheaper than you can get just tires for 17"+ wheels. Especially if you decide to go with wider tires and need spacers. I myself went with 16" wheels and 33s and got the set mounted, balanced, shipped, lug nuts, valves, and with replacement certificates for $1580.

Actually the 255/75 are 31" not 33". 33" tires would be 285/75.

Who mentioned 255/75? I said 255/80/17, which are 33" tires. And 285/75 is only a 33" tire in the 16" rim class. A 285/75/17 is a 34" tire and there are very limited options in that size.

Can you just have the stock tires mounted on black rims, so it would look better, imo, and spare the cost of new tires?

Of course. Or just paint your stock rims black (with bedliner, powdercoat, plasti-dip, etc) like many of folks have done. But, if you go with new wheels and stock tires, I would make sure they weren't over 8" wide. The stock 255s would look mighty stretched on a 9" wheel.
