Anyone ever get scolded for parking next to another Jeep?

Yesterday, I parked next to another Jeep at the grocery store and when I was about to load my groceries in my Jeep, the owner of the other Jeep walked up and started scolding me about parking next to him. He accused me of parking next to him to show off mine and put his plain stock down. I tried to explain to him that I parked next to him as a brotherhood, nothing more or less. He wouldn’t hear any of it and kept on scolding. Anyone else ran into anything like this before?

That dude needs to chill. Next time tell him that there are certain brands of decaf coffee that taste just like real coffee. He should try some.

Self-esteem issues and no doubt a small unit that his GF reminded him about right before he left for the store.

I've had it happen a few times - "You're parked to close again." I told her that I needed to park that way so I could get the garbage and recycling container out of the garage without having to move her (wife) Jeep.

All you can do is feel sorry for someone with such insecurities. Maybe say a prayer for them.

Ah, the human mind.. The way the synapses fire and all that...

When come out and see a really built Jeep next to mine I always hope that the owner shows up before I leave so I can compliment him/her and maybe learn something by asking a few questions..

I always CCW and would have apologized to him and moved on. That kinda stuff isn’t worth the legal entanglements.

We almost always park next to another Jeep. Have never had an issue. I’d just have to laugh that one off and make sure I didn’t park next to him again.

What a tool, dude needs to chill, sounds like he was bitten by the green-eyed monster. I always try to park next to another Jeep, modded or not. Never been scolded (yet) but complimented many times!

As I get older I find that I have no tolerance for, nor do I suffer fools lightly. I'd have told him to go ........ himself.

Luckily, I've never met anyone like him. Every owner of every Jeep that I've ever met that parked next to me, or I to him/her, was a great person and I usually end up in a prolonged Jeep/military/fly fishing conversation. And I make a new friend!

I never park next to other jeeps, if they want to park next to me then that's fine but I dont want to give anyone an imposed positive or negative sense when they arrive to their vehicle.

It never crossed my mind that someone would be pissed and think I am showing off my modded Jeep next to their unmodded one just to belittle them. People have become way too hypersensitive about perceived injustices. Where we live there are many folks who have Jeeps way more (expensively) modded than mine, and I love parking next to them, even when their lift dwarfs my 2.5" lift!

People with Jeeps just need to get out more often and wheel with others more often. People hardly wave anymore. To me that shows a lack of knowledge for the brand.

People can still be an individual and wheel with groups to get to learn and know about sharing their lives and meeting like minded people. I think we as a society take what we see on the screen and contort it to represent everyone we meet outside of our homes.
There is so many good Americans that simply go un-noticed anymore.

You’d be surprised at the power of agreement.
Just agree, tell him how much better yours looks and there is no where for the conversation to go from there. Discussion over.

Sounds like someone who is jealous and wants to mod his Jeep but someone won’t let him.

Unfortunately, there is no mandatory mental health check before allowing just anyone to take a Jeep off the lot. I'd like to think of Jeepers as a remarkably sane group overall, but there are always exceptions.

I love how that's a fairly stock Jeep climbing a modded one! Says a lot for stockish JKs!

Same here, and I've been on the receiving end of those questions too (which is weird since my rig is nothing compared to many). Parking next to another Wrangler improves my day, whether it's bone stock or built up.

There's no call for confrontation here. Just tell the person you're sorry you bothered them, wish them a good rest of the day, and move on. Or do exactly as the OP did - tell them you're just trying to show camaraderie from one owner to another. All of the people whose first reaction is to blow a gasket in response here need to take a step back and reevaluate their personal sense of security. They'll be in good company right next to the person who was insulted by someone parking next to them.

Never got scalded. On the other hand a really hot platinum blonde with a brand new JL told me she loved my Jeep when I parked next to her at the gym. We ended up talking Jeeps for 10 minutes. Made my day!

Picked up my first Jeep in July. Have had nothing but great experiences and conversations with current and former Jeep owners. I actively search for other Jeeps to park next to as each has its own story which is the best part of owning a Jeep - IMO.

Hopefully the dude was just having a bad day so as someone else recommended, say a prayer for the poor bastard.
