Anyone get gears at 4WP in Naperville, IL ???

Looking to regear my Jeep and was looking at going to my local 4wp (Naperville, IL), but it seems like there are horror stories with 4WP's service in some areas. I've read that it just depends on the individual location, so I was just wondering if anyone has had their gears swapped at this one specifically. Cheers

Dont know about your state, but the 4WP where im at all have pretty bad ratings. Plus ive talked to a few Jeep guys who have had terrible experiences with them. Could be the two by me here in Southern California. But I stay away and try to learn and do it all myself or find a local mom and pop

I know a few people who had their gears done there and they haven’t had any issues. I live in Schererville and had mine dine and Vic’s Auto Doctor. No problems with the install and they were easy to work with. It’s more of a hot rod shop but they do gears on a regular basis plus the owner has owned his share of jeeps.

A&G Automotive in Naperville did mine. No complaints, great guys, great service.

Wildside Jeep Customs is also in Naperville. They did some work on my Jeep. Great service and never had an issue. Another place to call to at least to compare prices.

Wildside sends all their gear installs to A&G. That's how I ended up there.

I am in Crown Point so this might work! How are their rates?

How much did they charge you? 4WP was quoting me about $1900 (seemed high) but what do I know LOL

4WP quoted me 1900, but I think you can drop it down a bit with negotiation.

I paid $2,200 out the door for 4.56 gears and a truetrac in the front d30 so probably $500 less without the truetrac. 4wheel parts would have been a little cheaper but with all the extra gas and time spent driving it wasnít really worth it when I was confident in the local shop.

A&G had me source the parts (gear sets and master install kit) and they did the install. I think it was around $1100 for install. I got the gears etc. (Yukon) for approx $670 from Northridge. So approx $1800 including new carrier for the front diff since I have a Dana 30 in the front.

For what it's worth, I'm in Texas and I'll trust minor things for 4WP to do; however, when it came to gears I personally went with a local Jeep specialty shop that had good reviews. The local specialty shop has a tremendous reputation to maintain and I'd like to think they will do a high quality job with high quality parts. The last thing I need is something to go wrong and end up with a huge repair bill.
