Are these the ones?

The only way I can get 37's, is for the Jeep to have something for my wife, so it's easier for here to get in and out of the Jeep.

JSRIII likes this.

I've had excellent results with AMP Research power running boards on all 4 of my trucks. Don't need them for the Jeep but living in salt and sand covered roads in Connecticut my AMP boards have never had a problem. Just keep them well lubed during the winter... I recommend you shop around because there are always deals on this things

I installed the Aries Actiontrac boards on my Jeep earlier this year and made this video review. I was in a similar position with my wife being pregnant while I had my 35s.

I'm pretty short myself, so they've been useful for me as well. Let me know if you have any questions about them.

The "dual step" design of these when they are deployed is pretty useful. It comes in handy when I need to access the roof of the Jeep for things like cleaning or snow removal, as you basically have two steps to get up and down really easy.

I think they sell a bypass kit to use with the doors off. It clips into each of the door sensor harnesses. Otherwise, they will stay in the deployed position with the doors removed and won't retract. You're other option is to disable their operation altogether before taking the doors off. There is a shut off switch for this. You will still have the upper stationary step in place, so it's better than nothing.

Any idea how they work in the snow and ice?

I have the amp research power steps. Great in the Summer but as soon as I get a slush build up on them in the Winter they stop retracting because of the weight. I just added some assist springs to them and we'll see if that works better.

BTW... the amp research steps can be rigged to use with doors off. They have a sensor wire which is SUPPOSED to hook to the jeep's door sensors, but you can hook it to the interior lights as well. Any time the interior light is on the steps are out. The jeep's remote also happens to turn the interior lights on when you hit the UNLOCK button so the steps also extend when you unlock

I'll find out this winter how they do in the snow. Since the step portion retracts into body, I don't think there's any risk of snow or ice weighing it down and preventing it from retracting like the AMP Research design. Instead, I could see a situation where water or snow could be kicked up from the front tires and build up on the bottom, obstructing the step when opening. That I suppose could prevent it from deploying, but shouldn't harm the unit in any way as there are protections built in to the controller to stop it from forcing itself open or closed.

This is just theoretical and I haven't even tried them in the snow yet. I'll definitely put it through the test this season.
