I'm very confused by this...

"This version of the Retractable Sunshade is the Sunrider for Hardtop application which works only with the Bestop Sunrider for Hardtop."

and then this...

"Works alone or compatible with Sunrider for Hardtop (not required)."

So which is it, does it only work with the Sunrider for hardtop or not?

I think without sunrider needs additional part. My guess uses sunrider to mount to.

Hey all,

This is a bit confusing, sorry.

The Retractable Sunshade works with your Sunrider for Hardtop or with the hardtop on and the Freedom panels removed. It will NOT work if you want to put the Freedom Panels on over the Sunshade.

Does that help?

Looks interesting. Price is too high for me. And being retractable means that something could fail. I like my Alien sunshade. Super easy to install and works great for me.

Mid may from last update is what I heard. Same BS with every new Bestop product, they over tease it and release date is always some sort of state secret.

According to Quadratec, it’s July.

I got the information below from Cassie last week via PM. Based on the fact that Cassie was originally saying January, I wouldn't be surprised if Quadratec's information ended up being more accurate.

"They are looking to ship late May first part of June."

Cassie, Why won't this work with "newer" Trektop Pro's (wording in your ad)?
What's the cutoff date/serial number for compatibility?
And what changed on the Pro to make this incompatible?
Is there any difference in 2 door/4 door shades?
Thanks,
Bob

I sure hope quadratecs info is off and it comes sooner. If not it is what it is.

Hey there,

The newer Trektop Pro has a sunrider feature that doesn't allow the two to work together nicely. Engineering is working on a fix. That is the only change.

No difference between the 2 and 4 door for the retractable Sunshades.

So yesterday Bestop posted on FB an add for this. Made it look like it was available. Followed the link to order and guess what? The disappointment continues...

So this can work with hardtop only without freedom panels. How long does it take to install? If it's over 10 minutes, that likely makes it too much to try to do ongoing without sunrider.

This works with hardtop UNDER the freedom panels. If the panels are on, then a sunshade doesn't do much good, but you don't need to completely uninstall, you just retract it.

I'm not sure it'll work with freedom panels at all. Go to Bestop site, 2 choices sunrider for hardtop, and softop.

You are correct. They've updated the description and it now states it is NOT COMPATIBLE with the freedom panels reinstalled.

Nope...Cassie has stated it's not compatible with freedom panels, and of course the reason I care is because I don't want to have to reinstall each time if it takes longer than 5 minutes

Looks like Bestop raised the price from 139.99 to 166.99

Quadratec still shows 139.99 if anyone plans on still getting it.

So have they shipped even one yet? I just want a ballpark on how long to install the hardtop version. If under 10 minutes, I would likely order one.

If I run a hardtop sometimes and a softtop sometimes, I have to buy two?

I run both tops.. hard in winter soft in summer. I don’t see myself needing it when I do have the hard top on. I rarely take the freedom panels out in the winter.
