Bestop Softop Suggestions

Hey everyone, Happy 2020.

So I have had my Jeep now for a few years and Im thinking its time for a Softop as I currently run A hardtop with the Bestop Sunrider for Hardtop. There is three that Im interested in, The Bestop NX Glide, Trektop Pro and the Supertop NX. They each have something I like about them and some things I dont like. I like the Glide for ease of sliding the windows off quick and the top drops down real quick and has the FastBack look. The cons of that top are the windows dont fold and I''m not sure how mach rear cargo space is robbed from me with the angled back window. I like the Pro for the camper style sliding rear windows and I just like how it looks and the rear window is glass so it pops open really easy as I am constantly using the tailgate to take things in and out. The cons for this top are its the most expensive and it doesn't collapse all the way like the other 2 tops. The SuperTop I threw in there because It does have roll up windows for storage, cheapest and it has a flat rear window so no cargo space is taken. The cons are zippers and it doesn't look as cool to me as the others lol.

I have a 2 door and I run small storage bags on the rear roll bars which is a concern for the fast back style tops. Im looking to hear from people who have these tops and can weigh in on if they Like them, what they dont like. Also another reason Im between these 3 tops and I haven't considered the Mopar top is I want the crushed red pepper color all 3 come in.

Anyway hope to hear everyone thoughts, Im not in a rush to get one as Im holding out for the ol tax return for this lol.

I picked up an NX Glide this past summer for my 2door. I like the look of the fastback and the install was pretty straightforward.

Not being able to roll the windows up is a bit annoying, but I either leave them at home or throw them in the back seat. So far they haven't blown out.

The fastback does cost some cargo space, and the bar is a bit fiddly compared to the ease of the hardtop, but that is to be expected I guess. I did have to move my fire extinguisher to the other side of the roll bar because it was hitting the rear window. In fact, the headrests will rub on it too, ever so slightly.

I did have some water leaks in a major rain storm, but I think I didn't have it put together quite right where the side flaps go in.

Overall, I like the top. It seems like great quality, easy to use and I got it for about $600.

I have the Pro and love it but it is really a year round top. There is a storage bag you can get for the glass and the top actually comes off pretty fast there just need to be a storage solution for it.

Terry C, If you take off just the side windows, would they fit in the back of the Jeep? Also is there enough space between the back glass and the roll bar to fill small roll bar bags? Last Question have you driven around with the back glass open and if so is it pretty sturdy? I do it frequently with my hard top to get a more open air feel.

matty were did you find the glide for 600? Im seeing 1100 and up for just the black diamond and 1500 for the twill. I really want the crushed red peeper color but for 600 I would consider looking the other way. Do you find using the rear tailgate to get things in and out a PITA with the soft stop window not being able to just pop up and down like a hard top?

I picked up a Bestop NX on Craigslist in 2018 for our 2018 JK Altitude (basically a fancy Sahara). This is my second year running with the hardtop from late Nov to early April. I love the soft top look and occasionally run with just the back piece out. It holds together very well. My favorite is the safari mode; side curtains and back out but full coverage on the top. The downside, it is loud at 40 MPH+ and the zippers can be a pain but I've figured out how to work them better when putting the side curtains and back piece back on. I also devised a way to hang the side curtains and back panel on the wall in my garage when off the Jeep. I have the bag to store them but didn't like the way they roll up in the bag. For us it's either top off or on when I leave the house. I also like the look of the twill (same fabric on my convertible Spyder) but am happy with the lower end fabric on the Jeep. All in all a great investment especially at Craigslist prices!

Bestop makes a bag for the side and rear windows that attaches to the headrest. Simple and safe way to carry them.

Not much room between the roll bar and window. Very small bags can fit in there.

No I do not run with the bake window open unless I take it all the way off. Beside that is what the side sliders are for.

I think this is the window bag that you are referring to...

You can find it here on bestop.com. Our web site currently says that it's backordered but we have 40 of them arriving mid/late next week so if you order we'll ship as soon as we have them in the warehouse.

Sorry, I got confused. I looked up my order and I actually got the Bestop Trektop, from Quadratec when it was on sale.

Still no complaints with the top I got though!

I have the trektop NX and wish I went with the trektop NX Glide. But when I was in the market for one, Quadratec had an amazing sale on it, so I could not pass it up (~550)!

Hey there,

I have the Bestop Trektop NX Glide in Twill on my 2 door 2012 JK. I went from the factory style soft top to the Glide.

I do love the top as it is super quiet and easy take the top off when the weather permits. I store the windows in the Bestop storage bag for the glide:
