Bluetooth/AUX problems (help!)

Hey guys, so let me start off by saying I absolutely love my jeep! (I'm not trying to complain, just seek advice!)

I have a 130s head unit (I'll eventually replace it with a 430, but it has Sirius and Bluetooth) and it has the connectivity package. I've been having two issues
1. The Bluetooth doesn't work correctly anymore... It used to make and receive phone calls/stream music from my iPhone perfectly fine, but recently when I hit the phone button or voice command it doesn't do anything- the radio keeps playing. Then eventually it will change to the phone but it will not make phone calls. Bluetooth audio streaming doesn't work either (I have tried deleted and repairing my device)

Because the Bluetooth audio doesn't work, I decided to use the aux input- But...

2. The aux input is acting up. I have tried a couple different aux cords, and with each one music will play for about 20 seconds and then all of a sudden it will stop.. By unplugging and plugging it back in it will play music again, but stop after about 20 seconds.

(It's still under warranty, and I have tried to schedule an appointment but they can't get me in until three or four weeks)

Does anybody have any advice or similar problems? Thanks!

What kind of phone do you have? Have you tried a hard reset of your phone?

If you've tried the hard reset of your phone without success, I know it's a long shot, and doesn't really address the AUX wired connection, but you could try deleting your phone from Uconnect, then unplug your battery for ten minutes, the reconnect and start over with pairing your phone. Sometimes the electronics gets whacky and a hard reset on everything will give it the kick in the pants it needs.

Hello!
I have an iPhone 6 and have tried the hard reset with the same results. As I've had more time this evening to check it out, I have noticed that the actual Bluetooth microphone function works fine on the jeep and my phone, as soon as it connects.. And that's the problem. It doesn't connect to my phone or any phone right away. Once you push the voice recognition or phone buttons on either the steering wheel or the radio nothing happens, after waiting and pushing them several more times, it will beep and say "downloading phone book " on the screen. After about 5 minutes of waiting it will connect and act normal. (Audio streaming even works!) But as soon as you turn off the car and try to get back in and connect it again, it repeats the process of random beeping and doing nothing and freezing.

This leads me to believe it's the head unit that maybe the dealership could swap out (also because the AUX still doesn't work and is in the head unit)

That stinks! Hopefully the dealer will just swap out the whole thing and make it right.

Good luck! Sorry I couldn't offer any more help...

It can take my android phone to connect up, up to 3 or 4 blocks from my house. BTW, that's not meant to convey distance, but expired time from startup.

Sometimes it is not even connected by the time I get to the traffic light (6 blocks), and while waiting for the longggggg red, I do a manual-by-voice-command BT device connect.

How soon after "jumping in" are you attempting to use it prior to a bunch of button presses? 3) You mentioned that it "doesn't connect to any phone right away". Here's the thing to understand, a BT carkit is not a light switch. Meaning that it doesn't turn on as soon as you turn the key on or start the vehicle. A) When you turn the key on or start the vehicle, the Uconnect module will take about 5 - 7 seconds seconds to power up because it needs to get a CAN message from the TPIM telling it that the ignition is on. B) Now Uconnect sends out a ping to search for the phone, and if it's nearby then the phone sends a BT message back to Uconnect and now a handshake begins with a few security questions between the 2 devices. C) Once they pair up the bonding process begins which includes the downloading of the phonebook. This will happen each time that you get into the vehicle and turn it on. This is because Uconnect will now compare the newly downloaded phonebook to the contents from the previous key cycle to see if you have added or deleted any contacts. D) The time to download the PB can vary depending on how many contacts that you have on the phone and the speed that the phone sends them. Some phones (such as the IPhone) sends them in blocks of 10 numbers at a time, while some phones send them in a constant stream. So the time can vary. As an example I have 1,000 contacts on my Iphone 6 (for testing with) and the same contacts on my NOTE4. The IPhone will take about 1.5 minutes to download them all while the NOTE4 is about 1 minute. This determines how soon you can use the VR commands for calling by name. However, once you get into the vehicle, don't touch the buttons for at least 1 minute after starting the vehicle. This should be enough time for Uconnect to ping, search for the phone and then start the pairing / bonding session and be usable.
By a hard reset I mean I have reset all Bluetooth settings and held down both the home button and power button on my phone to make it force restart

I shouldn't have said jump in, I could be driving for 10-15 minutes or even an hour and it doesn't connect... It's not so much giving it time for it to recognize the phone and connect to it, it's more of it doesn't start the Bluetooth function- like the Bluetooth function doesn't start when I push the phone or VR button Even after driving for 15+ minutes. The screen just keeps displaying the radio and acting as if I hadn't even pushed the button. Eventually, after pushing the buttons a couple more times (waiting about a minute before pushing them again) it will just beep at me and the screen will go completely blank and the only way to return back to the radio or do anything else is to shut off the jeep. (Sometimes it will connect and work flawlessly, after waiting a while, but usually it just never connects.)

So all this happens after driving and having the phone in the car for some time. Shouldn't it at least beep and say "Uconnect phone ready" or "please say a command" even if my phone weren't in the car? (Which it is)

I do not think it's my phones Bluetooth, as it works on other vehicles (I have tried it with a friends Grand Cherokee multiple times)

Any input on the aux situation?

Again, thanks so much for the ideas and help!

This is a tell tale of whether or not the Uconnect module is having an issue powering up or connecting. On the 2015 Wranglers, I have found (2) different wire harness issues that caused issues in 2 separate vehicles. The vehicles were in different shops and neither issue was caught by the Techs. 1) Vehicle (A) Had a CAN wire that wasn't seated into the Uconnect's main connector. Seated it in correctly clicked the terminal lock and no more issues. 2) Vehicle (B) had a ground terminal not seated at the 8 pin connector under the dash. Connected it into the connector and no more issues. Both of these issues created intermittent issues and may or may not be a similar issue in your vehicle. The only way to determine that is with a good Tech and his multimeter. As I mentioned, replacing the radio will not cure this issue. Have you tried a different phone? I know that you mentioned that your phone works fine in other vehicles but the only way to do an accurate comparison is with another vehicle that has the exact same system. BT carkits don't all work the same or ask the same BT questions between the 2 devices (carkit & phone). When you're playing the AUX input and it stops, does the radio stay in the AUX mode or does it go back to the radio mode?
I will check to see if the halo light turns on after 5-10 seconds tonight once I get out to my jeep.

My brother has connected his phone and the same issues happen. Also, with his iPod touch and it does the same thing.

And when the music stops while using the aux it stays in aux mode, and if I unplug the aux cord from the radio and plug it back in it doesn't work, however if I unplug it from my phone and plug it back in, it starts playing again, only to stop after 20 more seconds. I have used different aux cords and tried playing music from different phones and the same thing happens. I thought it was my phones aux port, but I've been using headphones (beats that attach by that same and different aux cables) and it works perfectly. I've also tried other phones with other aux cords and I get the same result in the jeep.

Okay so I checked and after a couple seconds the ring around the USB input lights up!

I'm thinking that the the radio may be the issue. Because the radio sends a CAN message to the Uconnect module telling it that you want to use Uconnect and the radio should then also go into hands free mode. This along with the issue that you're having with the AUX input kind of leads me in that direction.
Would you try something else for me? After being in the vehicle for a few minutes, go into your phone settings menu --> Bluetooth --> do you see Uconnect and does it show connected?
If so then please initiate a call from the phone itself. Does the call go thru Uconnect and continue to throughout the call?
Thanks
I have checked under my phone's bluetooth settings. It's interesting- When I turn the Jeep on for a little while (giving it enough time to try to recognize my phone) if it eventually connects, it will say connected on my phone. However, if I hit the phone button on the radio or steering wheel it will disconnect on my phone. And on my phone if I tap the device "Uconnect" to make it connect to the car it just says "Device connection unsuccessful. Make sure "Uconnect" is turned on and in range."

I will check the blinking USB light this evening.

While driving this morning for about 10 minutes I decided to use the aux cable. To my surprise, it played the whole time without any interruptions! I thought that maybe it had fixed itself, although when I tried it a couple minutes ago it kept stopping and not playing the music.

I've seen this same message when pairing an IPhone in the past many times as far back as the IPhone 4. I think it's just a timing issue because the phones have always paired up.
Okay, so when I go on my phone and dial a number and hit call it will pause for a second. It almost seems like it's trying to connect to my Jeep, but then it just starts calling on my phone as if I weren't using any Bluetooth. As I have been driving a lot recently, I've been experimenting with things. I have found that once the Bluetooth is working fine and it connected to my phone, the AUX input works perfectly. So when one is not working, the other isn't working either. Likewise, when one of them works the other works too!

(But of course, as soon as I turn off the Jeep and go to use it again the same thing happens with it not connecting and the AUX not working. I then have to press the phone button a a good amount of times and wait for it to beep at me- then the radio freezes and eventually quits out and goes to playing FM. Then, it will beep at me saying that "Uconnect phone is ready." Then the bluetooth and aux work perfectly.)

I'm sorry if this is just like completely puzzling- I did a lot of research and have not found anything like it… But I very greatly appreciate all the input and advice!

What state are you in? (this is just a curious question, it won't affect the system)
The AUX issue is making me think there is a radio issue as well as the USB halo light staying on telling me that Uconnect is powered up and working.
Would you mind trying a battery rest of the vehicle? Disconnect the battery for at least 10 minutes and then reconnect it and try the system again.
I tried it again this morning, I turned on my Jeep and allowed it some time to connect. After a few minutes I went on my phone into setting and it says that it is connected to "Uconnect." I then went to the phone and tried to place a call. I hit dial, and the phone froze for a second, as if it were transferring the call to the jeep. But then, the call went through on the phone. At the top of the iPhone screen, the bluetooth symbol faded away, showing that the bluetooth has disconnected.

I just noticed that this has happened a lot- Every time I first get in the jeep, and give it a minute to send the signal, my phone shows that it is connected to the Uconnect. However, whenever I try to: place a call on the phone, press the steering wheel or radio controls for VR or the phone, or stream bluetooth music, it will show that it is disconnected from my phone.

Also, I live in Virginia.

And I will try a battery reset once I get home this evening!

Also would you mind performing a "restore" on the phone thru iTunes? There's 2 options when you restore and 1 is as a new phone. Don't do that one, do the other one. I think it's restore as (your phones name that you gave it when you originally set it up).
I can try this tonight. I will try to post a video somehow of what it happening.

Okay, so after the battery reset the problems still continue. I haven't been able to restore my phone yet, though.

I am having a similar problem.

2014 JKUS with 130 radio with Sirius and u connect.

My Bluetooth no longer works as well. Rebooted two iPhones phones. Still no help. When I press the Uconnect or phone button the radio does not react.

Question: The USB plug in the center console - the halo light stays on all the time - key out of ignition- halo light still on. Is this normal?

I honestly have no clue how, but for me it fixed itself. I deleted the device from my jeep and turned bluetooth off on my iPhone for about two weeks. Then I reconnected everything and it's been working great ever since! The only thing is that every time I start my jeep it will beep at me (as if I pushed the voice recognition button) and then I just have to push the phone button and it goes back to normal

Forgive me if someone has already mentioned this but check to make sure it's not the "hands free module" I had to have mine replaced with similar issues. One thing that I noticed was the light around the USB port in the center console was no longer lit up.
