Bullet proofing JKU doors...

Having witnessed a shooting in a city one time, I have always been concerned with bulletproof vehicle stuff. Today I bought some panels of material that I am going to cut to fit the inside of the door panel and glue to the exterior metal. I bought an extra panel to test and only bought panels for the front doors so far. Has anyone ever done this? Also I want to install that film that is just like tint but bulletproof. If test go well I may do the backs of the seats as well. Not planning on ever selling and if world gets worse (just a matter of time) I want to be able to bug out in my daily driver. Might sound crazy but I have my reasons to believe this way. Let me know what you think of the idea and if you've ever seen it done. Thanks. Will post pics while I'm doing it.

My crown Vic has bullet proof doors I believe they are have Kevlar on the inside liner but it only protects with like standard hand guns and like shotguns. I heard high power rifles will go right through, I'm not sure if it's true cause I'm not shooting it but I know it's there cause I have the build sheet from when it was ordered

I'd love to do this. I'm trying to make my Jeep as "tank" as possible.

By the way any bullet proof tint sounds like snake oil. The kinetic energy of nearly any round would likely at least move the material and break the glass behind it. Follow up shots would probably go thru. Bullet resistant glass is a multi layer lamination of materials that is thick and heavy to spread the energy. I have shot into "bullet proof" crown Victoria's to evaluate them and my agency decided to pass because we were able to get penetration with nearly every weapon we carried. It did ok against handguns at first but then fade on multiple shots. A .223 from an M4 went thru both sides of the car.

There is a material that is used in construction of armored buildings. It gets used in banks, etc. It comes in plywood dimensions. No clue where to get it.

We shot a 2x2 sheet of it, 45ACP hand loads with hornady 230gr barely made it through one layer. My 5.45 AK74 went through it like it was nothing. It's all about velocity!

I don't think bullet resistant tint exists. So you can forget armoring the glass in any reasonable manner. It is what it is and you're not going to change that without major re-engineering of the entire door with custom professionally engineered glass.

Meanwhile, your tires, radiator, and other highly exposed and vulnerable components are far more likely to be the demise of the vehicle, rather than the occupants getting shot.

If bullet resistant tint exists, why not just put it on the doors and body too? Unless you're going to run solid rubber tires and filter out any biological particulate I think you're wasting your money. Just my two cents.
