Buying my first wrangler, any known problems?

Looking to buy my first wrangler sahara, looking at 2008 and newer, low miles.

Are there any common problems/issues I should watch out for?

Yes, stay away from this website or any of the stores that sell Jeep parts. You will forever have an empty wallet modding your new Jeep.

They have terrible quarter mile times at the track.

Its aWrangler so it is indestructible but the '07 thru '11 had Jeeps worst ever engine. The '12 gets way better gas mileage and the previous 4.0L was the best Wrangler engine ever.

Most significant problems are water leaks and wind noise depending on your roof choice.
Still the fun outweighs all the "Jeep Things"

Its a Chrysler product, quality isn't exactly something they are known for.

Lots od opinions on that. But basically any well maintained Wrangler should be trouble free. Given the common opinion that both the 4.0L and the 3.6L are "far" better choices the '07 thru '11 should be priced lower. Making it a great buy.

Mileage on my 09 was actually better than the last 2 cars I've bought. haha. So I was fine with it. But I'll admit I've always bought with fuel mileage somewhere near the bottom of my priorities. I would love to have got a 4.0L but every TJ I came across had way too many miles on the engine and interior for my liking.

More like an 83hp increase and 2mpg better.

Rust! Check the underbody in particular. No doubt you'll have but how bad?

I would say the underbody does pretty good, things like the axles, exhaust hangers, suspension parts, things like that seem to be rusting quickly and more obviously. I don't know if Jeep just decided to go cheap, and save money with its vendors, or is downright ignoring protecting these parts adequately. I can't figure out why the axles aren't properly coated, that's just shoddy work on someones part.

stay away from the 4spd auto for the 07-11 years. Get a 6spd manual for those years!
