Good idea! I'll be heading out today and this will be on my list of things to do.

I like hidden storage too. I love the sound system so no complaints, just wish there had been a way to put some hidden storage under the seat or something. I guess you have to give a little to get a little!

I'm not sure about the location is much of an improvement.. Load cargo into the area covering the sub.... does the sub still work??
I would take the sub out use the area for cargo and get both the advantages of the area being wider and now a hidden cargo area...
in fact maybe it's just me and not able to notice sound improvements/changes very good but I removed the sub from the side (2013 JKU) and use it for storage... Me or the wife can't tell the sub isn't there... And I didn't notice much difference in the sound when I added the poly behind the speakers in the roll bar.....
with that said the radio system works fine... but compared to a buddy's upgrade maybe not so much...

I have a 2015 Sahara Unlimited with the "floor sub". First, it should come with the rear carpet/mat. Its not listed as an option on my window sticker, so I assume it comes as part of the sub package. There is a dedicated whole in the middle that fits around the sub, and its reversible from carpet to mat.

I have to admit, that I was somewhat displeased with the floor sub on first view, but after driving and using the back quite a bit over the past couple of months, I love it. First, go ahead and cover that thing up, from my winch bag, to gym bags to my favorite beverage cooler, nothing seems to stop the sound from reaching all of the jeep. Compared to my old JK with the side sub, this thing kills it! and I have gained 15% or more storage space.

Gonna try to polyfil suggestion in the sound bar and the sub this weekend.

Since you paid for the Alpine, you might want to invest in some DynaMat, too. You can use that along with the polyfill. Mike has both in his aftermarket system, but we did them both at once, so I'm not sure which did more.

I heard that covering up the sub really made no difference from several people. I'm very happy to hear that! With a drummer in the family we listen to a lot if music so I wanted the better sound system. I definitely don't want it covered up with a mat but I have no problem throwing things on top of it. I do miss some hidden storage though. Oh well, off to see what I can find out.

Well, no luck yet. The dealership is looking into it. The salesman thought I should have it, the manager thinks maybe my slush mat order deletes the cargo mat. I hope not. I'd have stuck with the original mats to get the cargo mat and ordered the all weather mats for the front. I can't find any way to order a cargo mat with the hole cut out for the sub for a 2 dr if this is the case. Have to wait until they call me tomorrow after they research it.

I have a 15 Willys JKU and do not have the upgraded Alpine system with the sub. However I do have the slush mats but mine still came with the rear carpeted floor mat. It just doesn't have a hole in it for the sub. So my guess is that you should have it.

The cargo mat on the 2 door JK is very small. If a cut out for the sub was included there would be hardly anything left of it. The 4 door JKU mat is much bigger so the sub cut out makes sense.

I'm thinking they leave it out if you order the Alpine. Seems to make sense that one wouldn't want to cover up the sub, which I don't. Still nothing from the dealership. Good to know it's not the slush mats that delete it, if they try to tell me that! Thanks!

That does make sense. Not worth it if it's a tiny shred of a mat! I was just originally told I'd get a cargo mat with the sub so that's why I'm curious. I thought it might be something different than the standard. I heard the Unlimited ones could work, and will go underneath the back seat, but it makes for a tight fit with locking the rear seat. I can make a mat of some sort if they don't make one for the Alpine orders. I'll probably just make one that is thinner so it can fit entirely under the seat.

That's because low frequencies are felt more than heard.

That's good to know. I am just really enjoying everything about the vehicle, including the sound system.

I am going to be getting the cargo mat from the dealership. It was on my build sheet but oddly enough didn't come. So the dealership placed the order. I am hoping it is as you stated, that covering it up wont make a difference due to the frequency. If it does I'll just figure something else out.

Just was reading this thread, saw the bit about the reversible rear mat... Sure enough, just flipped the mat on my '15 JKU with sub in the floor and the reverse side has a nice Jeep logo and is clearly meant to be used as a more durable cargo mat, complete with opening for sub! Cool!

Everyone gets that standard cargo mat, if you order the slush mats, they should put the slush mat on top of the standard mat at the dealer.

The non sub mats are solid in the center, just like previous years and the subwoofer mats will have the cutout. If you want extra protection for your sub you can put a standard, solid mat there instead. It does dampen the sub a bit but that's expected, you can still here it though.

The new subwoofer is nice though, they did a big improvement on the new Alpine system and I'd actually recommend buying it this time instead of buying the 130 and ripping it out to upgrade. In previous years the upgraded system wasn't that much better, if you are planning to buy - give both a base 130 and a upgraded subwoofer a test first.

That's what I was thinking about the cargo mat, it was shown on my build sheet. But others who have ordered the 2 door vs the 4 door, with the Alpine system, have not received the cargo mat. It appears no one knows if it's only standard on the 4 doors and not the 2 doors with the subwoofer. Both 4 door configurations definitely get, but no one has an answer about the 2 door, as some people get it and others do not. It's quite confusing.

I'll eat my hat if Jeep actually makes a 2 door JK cargo mat with a sub woofer cut out. It's just way to small to have it. And I seriously doubt Jeep would provide the regular non cut out cargo mat with the premium sound system option that would cover the sub. Even if people say the full mat doesn't muffle the sound, Jeep specifically designed the mat they do provide for it on the 4 door JKU...with a cut out. They would not have bothered if it didn't matter.

Well, I don't think you will have to eat your hat! I doubt they would make one either. I was just told you get a 2 door mat no matter if you have the sub or not. That doesn't seem to be the case though. So I was curious if others had received one or not. I would not want to cover my sub with a mat under normal conditions, but there are times is would be nice to have the mat.

Drove home today with 15 cartons of porcelain tile covering the floor sub.... It sounded better! Seriously!

I agree. I covered mine with the slush mat in the rear and haven't noticed any change. I throw all kinds of stuff back there and pretty much have forgotten the speaker is under the mat.

My only concern is about what happens if I spill something back there and it leaks into the sub. It may be water proof and work just fine, but can I clean it?

Sorry to resurrect this thread from the dead.......but did you end up getting a cargo mat back there?

I just got a 2016 2Dr Willys with the alpine system and sub and there is not mat back there. The 2015 2 Dr Willys w/o the sub I had before came with the mat. I figured they would have one with the cut out for the sub back there to still have a classy looking Jeep mat back there.

Thanks!

I ended up getting a mat from the dealer, not Jeep. They don't make a cargo mat for the 2dr with the sub. My dealer ordered a 4dr mat and gave it to me and I just cut the holes for the seat latches a little larger to sit nicely where the back seat is. It's nice because it covers the entire back eve with the seat folded up! I can't imagine not having a mat back there. Jeep should really make one for the 2dr that covers the entire back floor for owners with the subs. My seat is up 90% of the time and the carpet would be trashed without that mat. I'd ask the dealer. My build sheet said I'd get a mat even though they don't make them so the dealer fulfilled the sheet! Lol Let me know if you get one! You could even get one without the sub hole and it would sound great. My sub has been both covered and uncovered and it sounds nice. My kid is a drummer in a rock band so she would be sure to tell me if it sounds like crap.
