Cell phone holders

What are you using for holding your cellphone on the dash? I have a holder that clips to the vent but with the rounded vent flanges it falls off when I hit a bump. Any suggestions for something that works in a Jeep? I don't like screwing or gluing anything to the dashboard.

I have one from 67 Designs. No complaints.

67 Designs. Totally adjustable, custom clamps for different phones. Carbon fiber. Not cheap but simply the best.

I have the Ruggid Ridge model, which uses the screw in the dash above the stereo to hold it in place. It keeps my cell phone secure when traveling 5 hours down the road to the farm, and while I’m off road.

I have the rugged ridge also. Works fine and holds sunglasses well when not being used for phone. I am sure some of the others are more sturdy but it works.

Another vote for 67 Designs. I had the single after trying several others that just wouldn't retain the phone when I hit a bump. Just ordered the dual, because I have a teenage daughter learning to drive and want to be able to see my phone while I'm in the passenger seat.
One comment on the magnet designs. I ordered 10 of those because I planned to use them for every device, everywhere. I didn't realize the metal plate (for the magnet) wouldn't allow my wireless charger to work.
On my 67 Designs, I use the "universal phone mount" that is spring loaded. I won't say it has never popped out, but it has to be a teeth rattling bump before it will.

I wanted the following:
-No permanent changes (no cutting or bolting or something through visible dashboard materials. No adhesives)
-One handed insert/removal
-Qi Charging
-Reasonably tidy installation
-Support my current Xs Max and future phones
+You could also use this with the 67 Designs solution if you wanted to mount it in the center

I have a RAM Mount on my A-Pillar, so connected this stuff to that. I like it so much I did the same thing in my S2000 (Off dash, not A-Pillar).

An Anker Qi Car Charger

A 17mm to 25mm to connect the above to a standard RAM mount.

A 3" Ram extension to go from the A Pillar Ram to the above.

And a micro USB cable with an L connector for neatness.

Currently using the power port on the front console but will wire it to switched power at some point.

I have the Rugged Ridge mentioned above. It's fine on pavement and mild off road, but on rough off road or bad washboard the phone will shake/vibrate it's way out of the spring loaded rubber friction grippers more than I'd like. I haven't bothered trying to replace it yet though, I just wait until I'm on easier terrain to put the phone back in if it falls out. I have a Samsung S9 in a fairly thin rubbery/plastic case for reference.

My Bactact seat covers come with a zippered pocket under my legs at the front of the seat. Works great for bouncy riding.

My cell phone is in an Otterbox cover with a belt clip. It is clipped to my belt on my left side. In the Chief, uconnect is used. In the TJ I do not answer while driving.

While Iím more than happy with my 67 Design holder, I was curious to see that you had. Unfortunately, for me, each of those links returns the error message we couldnít find that page.

Just ordered the Rugged Ridge model. I like the way it fits into the dash pocket on top. Now I have to figure out a way to charge the iPhone when it's mounted there. Waze sucks the battery dry in no time. I thought about adding a USB port up there but I may try to figure out some way to run a firewire up through the bottom of the mount. The only thing I really have to think about is how to provide power to it.

Huh, will remove the links. I cut and pasted my old post, since people seemed to like the solution.

The Weather Tech cup holder works for me. It's gotta be in the back cup holder and Momma was whining about it taking up her space but I'm happy

rugged ridge dash mount for gps etc, but for just daily driving and when I don't need to charge the phone,

phone sits in my door handle. perfect location. I was even debating to see if I could run a wireless charger behind the panel and some how make it work there! (haven't gotten that far yet...)

Wow!
I also donít have power windows, but never thought of trying this. What an outstanding idea.
I have a 67Design mount for my phone and am looking to change the way I have the stand-alone GPS mounted. While I donít have the exact mount you do, betting the one I do have will work for a test fit.

I have a Scosche Qi charger on the windshield, low against the dash. I can use the phone as a camera for some trail rides if I want to. I want to adapt the Qi mount to use the Rugged Ridge or 67 mount in the near future.

67 design, was pricey for me, but I've had it for years and never a hiccup. If you shake my phone hard the flashlight will come on automatically. The phone has been jarred in the 67 holder many times hard enough to turn on the light but the phone has never come out. Easy one handed in and out. I used it for googlemaps and hands free calling

do you know if the Scoshe has the same standard ball mount that will fit the rugged ridge mount?

Been thinking about it, but some people complain it doesn't hold the phone that well.

What kind of phone are you using it with? I have an iPhone 8 myself.

Not that I know of. But, the phone mount separates from the flex head base very simply and then ram makes an adhesive mounted ball. That was my plan.

I have the Scoshe and my wife has an iOttie. The Scoshe rotates from vertical to horizontal easily: the iOttie does not.

This is the magnetic mount I have and it is mounted onto a Mob Armor Ram bar mount. I can't remember how I attached them together and I'm out of town away from my Jeep for the next month or so.
