^^ I saw the 285 HP number more than once, I think Chrysler published it somewhere too. 260 was torque IIRC, 285 is definately the HP.

The threads above

From what I've read, the HP gain is not so much what people are after. The 5 speed transmission is a huge improvement over the 4 speed previous. Also the new engine
spreads it's power over a better rpm range. I have seen anything on the manual yet. if you have the loot go and after the auto-go 12
if you want to save some money buy an 11 with the manual tranny. I think you will be happy regardless

Why? No wranglers up to this point don't think were over 200.

It's all about the GEARING

Without gearing you WILL be "screaming rpm". This is a smaller engine so HP gains will require higher RPM. Proper gearing is what puts that power to the wheels. The new automatic transmission is the important component here. The only complaints about the previous engine had to do with the auto trans. If the 3.6 had been paired with the previous trans, you would see the same complaints.

Well, i agree, but people seem to complain about the 6speed with lack of power. Never drove a 6 speed, but if it's just winding them up where is the issue?
