Considering an Alpine ilx107

I am considering an Alpine ilx107 to replace the 430N.
Anyone done this yet? Any alternatives I should consider? Is there a parts list of what kits I need to get it to work?

I have the previous ILX-007 installed and absolutely love it. You just need to commit to APPLE for life, because it is CarPlay only. ;-)

My setup:
2015 JK 2-dr Willys Wheeler

Head Unit -
Alpine iLX-007 CarPlay

Amp
Alpine MRV-F300 mounted under front driver's seat

Front Speakers
Alpine SPS-610C

Soundbar Speakers
Alpine SPS-610

Subwoofer
Alpine PWE-S8 - mounted behind the front passenger seat.

Thanks for the response! I know steering wheel controls integrate, do you get all the vehicle information displayed? Is there an install kit required?

Thanks!

I personally went with a 6.2" Octa Core from Xtrons. Android based HU I bought off Ebay. I love the features and sound! $320 bucks plus a PAC adapter for $85.

I am now convinced almost any HU should sound better than the 430.

I have 2014 alpine premium sound and now it sound awesome. Not so much with the original 430 HU.

I had an iLX-007 in my last JK and transferred it into my LJ, and I've also had a 430. To me, CarPlay is head and shoulders above uConnect. Since I moved the Alpine to my LJ, I still had all the install parts, so I was able to install a Sony XAV-AX100 with my old PAC and Metra stuff. I was tempted by the new Alpine because I was so happy with the iLX-007, but couldn't justify the $200 price difference, and to be honest, I preferred the volume knob.

Good luck...

If you order from Crutchfield or Quadratec they will provide you with all of the installation gear needed. I recently installed the Pioneer 4201 (4200 + backup cam) and almost have everything done despite no experience doing something like this.

How much do you have to cut the dash to replace the 430N?

I have been looking at this for a while now and the only problem I have with this unit is the lack of satellite radio and there's no navigation. So any time you want to use it you pretty much have to have your phone.
I'm actually looking at the kenwood.
https://www1.crutchfield.com/p_613DN...tp=20217&avf=Y just a thought. Good luck with your decision.

I found a few programs that work on iPhone & don't require data. Tried TomTom Go works great. You just need room on your phone for the maps. Pulling the trigger on the ILX-107 today.

Got it in 2 days ago! So far super happy. Works really well, sound quality is a huge improvement from factory. CarPlay is amazing & the wireless sets itself up & works flawlessly. A bit of battery drain using nav & streaming Spotify for a few hours (nonstop). I will now more tomorrow 2 hour commute. Install was easy - no dash cutting like the ilx-007. Backup camera works great (non Alpine) - I went with the iData Maestro RR made everything a breeze - also let me re-program the steering wheel buttons, so volume is left side of the wheel now (that's where it should be imho). Nice to be able to flip the rear camera on while driving also (bikes on the back so nice to check all is good).
First impressions - buy it! Worth every penny.
I will post more after a few days.

If I was an apple person I think I'd go 107. Looks great style wise, curious to see it in the jeep.

I like everything but that chrome bezel haha it just doesn't look right even though it matches the other chrome. Just my opinion, pretty worthless.

If your interested here are some wallpapers I made for my head unit. Should be the same size as yours.

I'm with you - don't like the chrome ring (you don't seem to notice it as much when you are in the Jeep) but covering it looked like a lot of work. Figured I would live with it a bit & then decide if it was worth all the time to disappear it.

Thanks for the wallpapers - very cool!

I've had the 107 installed for about a month now. Definitely happy with decision to install it. Took a couple trips of over 1,000 miles each way and using iPhone Maps with Apple Music subscription was so nice (especially compared to build in nav and siriusxm in previous vehicle).

Funny, I wrote a review on Crutchfield and I also whined about the fake chrome ring. Also the small buttons which I'd like to see either bigger or just use capacitive buttons like the arrows next to them.

Other than that my only gripe was that I have been able to get the unit to recognize a USB stick. Tried about 10 different ones and keep getting "unsupported device" message. Pootkloop, which brand and model of USB stick did you use to upload the splash screens?

I used a Kingston - but it didn't work at first. It was formatted fat32 but I re-formatted it & then it worked.

Do you use the USB port in the centre console?

If you wanted to spend a little you can do the ABT deal. You can get a 8201 nex (with camera) for $829 then labor day ABT special = $50 off then get your $150 prepaid visa from Pioneer on the rebate program and your down to $629. Not to bad of a deal if your willing to spend that much on flagship products. I know I was going to hold off but that deal is pretty dam good.

Check the manual for instructions as the files may need to be saved in certain folders. As others said you probably need to reformat the USB, easy to do check online for instructions. If you're going to try my pictures let me know if they don't work, they may need to be converted to .bmp format instead of jpeg.
