Considering Rugged Ridge Grill Iserts

I'm considering a set of Rugged Ridge grill inserts for my '11 JK Sahara Tan Sport "S" and would like opinions from others who have these.

I think these along with perhaps, a black-d out "J E E "logo would really finish up "my" personalazation of my ride.

Also, anyone remove the " J E E P " logo from the front end??? I would think a little monfilament line and some goo-b-gone would do the trick but I'm open for suggestions.

ANYONE who has a picture of how the grill inserts look w/ Sahara Tan or White and maybe even Silver would be appreciated.

Mamy thanks, Jim.

THANKS....... I just ordered them!!!! They look awesome against the Yellow and I think will do nicely with my Sahara Tan.

That will ( I think) complete mods for a bit......then again, those wheels and tires sure do look sweet...... I have added MOPAR Side steps, Fuel Door, Tail Light guards, floor mats and rear cargo mat. I too have light now at the windshield, and will be installing a rear cargo area lighing set of LED's. Forgot to mention a receiver hitch carry basket.

Like a boat or a woman, the hull costs less than the rigging!!!!!!

Tks, I do too, yours look great. Al the adds had them on a red Jeep and I just thought they would look better (MHO) on a lighter colour..

I just came in from removing the "J E E P" from the front. I figure I "KNOW" what it is and if anybody needs to ask, then I'm talking to an idot. LOL......

I checked out your Jeep Profile and yours in Stone white looks great. I will have the exact look but in the Sahara Tan, and my lights are almost exactly the same. LOVE the "Life is good" I stuck on a Browning Deer decal as I am a deer hunter.

Mamy thanks, Jim.

I notice how totally incongruous that chrome Jeep logo looks with everything else either body color (tan) or flat black. So.... Just yesterday, I removed the Jeep logo. Didn't even have to warm it up, although it probably would have made it easier. I just used dental floss to "saw" off the letters. I removed the adhesive from the grill and letters using naphtha on a rag to help peel it off and clean up residue.

I replaced the adhesive on the letters with left over 3M adhesive tape from my Hothead headliner install, and painted them flat black.

I plan on installing them today when I'm sure the paint is OK and cured.
I'll post photos, if I don't mess it up to badly to show.

I don't useit much cause it's heavy !!about 80lbs-I think, hard to carry too, this light duty is very light (30lbs) and is capable of close to 6000lbs/pull with a snatch block and easy to pack/move !

Interesting, so with the snatch block it pulls the jeep easy?

Well I've never used it to get "unstuck". I don't get stuck to the point I need the winch--

I've just used it to test pulling the jeep on level and of course it's A OK-

I have used the light duty winch to pull my trailer over some rocks and it's also A OK-

I don't really have much use for the winchs I just HAVEM-

I also have a 4000lb come-along, that I keep in the trailer, I used it to lift the ass of the trailer up and levelit, just cause I could !

Oh and I never have to worry about mud, cause I don't do mud, just a lotta snow/runoff !

So, I went to the Rugged Ridge website and looked at the grill inserts.

I was surprised to find that they have no function, don't have mesh to protect the radiator or anything. Just for looks? Why?

I'll fiddle around with little items for looks, but I ain't spending good money on something that does absolutely nothing functional when similar items do have a function, like grill inserts that do protect the radiator....???

Well Rugged Ridge makes two. One has nothing in the middle and the other has lines down the middle. I actually like Drakes better myself. Half the price of the more expensive RR. It doesn't have the black rim though and inserts from the back not the front.

Plain RR $64.99

Billet style RR $159.99

Billet style Drake $79.99

X2 for rics1997 response. I bought the RR billet style. It is simply the plain plastic grill inserts with metal vertical slats screwed together and into the standard plastic grill insert. I like them but 2 arrived with the plastic tabs on the side broken off. The seller is sending me 2 plain plastic grill inserts for me to drill through and use the vertical slates from the 2 broken ones. Drakes is just the vertical slats attached to two flat bars with a clip attachment on the end for the Jeep grill- this may be a little more durable than the plastic tabs used on the RR ones to secure it the Jeep grill. And Drakes is a lot cheaper. That said, it sure keeps the bugs and rock off the radiator so I am happy
