Decided not to buy a Wrangler

No matter how much you guys and gals tried to convince me otherwise, a leaking vehicle is not acceptable because "it's a Jeep" so I moved on to another vehicle.

I'll be picking up my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee tomorrow. I'll give the Wrangler another look in a few years to see if they've managed to get their act together and design a vehicle where leaks aren't so common.

See you guys

Grand Cherokees were designed and engineered by Chrysler.

JK's were designed and engineered by BMW and Mercedes before BMW sold thier majority share in Chrysler. I'd say we're lucky to have them in the US.
Best 4x4 we've ever made.

I'd find a small leak in my convertible top less annoying than a weekly check engine light.

When did BMW have any Chrysler?
Aside from the MINI Cooper R52/53 engines that is?

Congrats on your Grand cherokee! But I dont see why people are having problems with leaks?! Maybe with a soft top, or an incorrectly placed hardtop, where the weather stripping is either bunched up and not sealed right. I have a 2008 wrangler sahara hard top, never leaked once! And its very quiet inside too! Which totally impressed me when I bought it!

I am soooo glad I brought my Wrangler! It is so fun and, with the 4 doors, it is practical, too. I have not regretted my decisions. No leaks here either. Wanna' get waterproof seats, though, for those unexpected rain storms when the roof is off.

Good luck with your Cherokee!

I ordered a new 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 with 3.6, 5 speed auto, off road package, etc. The day before it was delivered to my dealer I had a change or heart, I did not want the QL, and all the electronics, and street tires than come on the GC.

Found a new 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon at other dealer with what I wanted on it. Called my dealer on 8/15/12 morning, he got the Rubicon from other dealer and I had my new Jeep that same day. I will never take the hard top off, and can fix any water leaks. Love the new GC, but has a lot more features to give trouble than a roof leak.

Thank you, Jeep authority. Now that you have determined what is and is not acceptable (and reality), I may now rest.

Same.

OP: A new GC is almost as drool-worthy as a Wrangler IMHO. Enjoy.

Why do I have a feeling this is just another story. Just remember this poster has trolled the board for a year complaining about the Wrangler. Doubt he is getting a GC either.

Glad you found a vehicle to fit your need. But they should not leak, and that cannot be the only reason... the new GC are cool looking and versitale but its not a Wrangler

Enjoy. Personally, I think they look more like a Lexus than a jeep (I prefer the old GC body style).... but what the heck... lotta folks love 'em. Adios'
