DIY Hi Lift Mount?

I've done some searching and have found that the majority of the DIY hilift mounts that I have found are for the hood or roll bar. I'm interested to see if people have tried to replicate the BOLT mount. I prefer the a pillar location, but would love a cheaper solution than the BOLT J-mount product.

I've just invested in the smittybilt I-rack 2,
I got it set up for gas can mount and
Hylift- the short one- running stock spare and it is easily overloaded!
Looking to put some ARB recovery boards?
In place of hylift? Save 40 lbs

It doesn't get any cheaper than this. A few bolts and washers from the hardware store. Before I got my winch, this was my winch.

Gotta say front bumper mount has merit!
Frees up space on the rear for me

If you need one, just lay it across the inside of the tailgate from wheel well to wheel well and strap it in. Out of the way, out of the weather.

I do like this location, but I have a light bar hoop that may interfere. Some test fitting is in order for this weekend!

How about I sell you my barely used Bolt J Mount for cheap? Taking up space. Got rid of my hi lift in favor of a bottle jack setup.

I have seen some diys in person, but they all look like afterthoughts. Can't beat these for 30 bucks https://amzn.to/2jIwLWq

This one is DIY any simpler than the one in the link because it mounts on the MORryde HD door hinges, which are designed for easy attachment of accessories like this. MORryde Jeep JK Door Hinges | Retrofit Offroad

The same parts mount on other places on the Jeep:

Having it on the door scares me. Does it have protection to not scrape/damage the paint if the door opens all the way?

The jack is positioned so that when the door is fully open the jack will not contact the body.
