Doors, Doors, Doors

With the warmer weather around now I'd like to see what everyone likes to run on their Jeeps when it come to doors. Full doors, Half doors? tube doors, no doors? Pictures even better!

Back in September 2017. A high pressure cell settled over Ontario and we had 12 days of naked topless weather.

I do and have had no issue running these. I did get stopped once in two years of running completely doorless, but had a good conversation with the officer and didn't get ticketed.

My 2010 rubicon came stock with half doors and a soft top. I'll have to admit I really like the looks of this jeep with the top down. It's also more fun than I can possibly convey in just words.

I'll post some pics from Sunday. I plan to be up in the hills wheeling with my wife.

Maybe it's just me but I don't get the 1/2 doors and tube doors. If you're going to take doors off then why put doors back on?

Because no one needs to see my bright white legs? Because its easier (without doors) for people to see things to surreptitiously steal from your Jeep. Because 10 times more crap flies out with no doors at all.
1. No doors- 10 times the crap lost
2. Tube doors- 5 times the crap
3. Tube doors with sleeves- 2 times the crap
Bought my tube doors used and the guy had sleeves also. Ran sleeveless because hey, I am cool. One trip on a blistering, windy highway and trail WITH sleeves and I never took them off. With my top down I don't need MORE wind. Might be fine for you gentlemen but a pony tail can be hazardous in high winds. Just recently due to a bungee cord malfunction my door went flying off. Threw the door in the back of my Jeep and drove home. Freakin' miserable. What I can't understand is why you can run tubes without sleeves. LOL

I always run them on trails. And they're never in the way.

Tubes. That panel in the middle really cuts down on highway wind/noise compared to doorless.

(Is there any free picture-hosting site left that works here???)

On mine, the most naked I’ll do is to remove the freedom top when not wanted, and roll the windows down. Too hot and humid, too many isolated showers, no garage to keep flying critters from using the Jeep as their personal poop parlor. I suspect if I lived in a nice hot but dry climate where rain seldom an issue, perhaps do different.

I'm pretty sure I've tried to explain half doors to you before, but this time I'll let you explain it.

I think the soft top just plain looks better too.

I wouldn't even think about running the hard top in the Summer anymore. It makes no sense to me at this stage.

I like my half doors for the same reason you like your soft top. It's not the same as riding doorless* but it feels a lot more open than having the windows down on full doors. And I can carry the uppers with me and put them on in 2 minutes when the rain storms show up out of nowhere. Most of the time I run stagecoach with the side windows off and the back window rolled up tight. And I also think it just plain looks better.

*I know it's blasphemy, but I don't actually care for riding doorless but I LOVE my halfies

I'll tell you, the Automatic Mirror Movers from Q-tech are probably the most utilized mod I've done. Such a no brainer to me. Jeep should've done this long ago!

For the last two years, I went completely topless/doorless for the summer.. I'm trying out a Trektop NX this year. Might get some fabric half doors like jdinny has to go with it.

I just wish they re-used the stock mirrors and were available in flat or wrinkle black. But more importantly, I'm guessing they're technically not compatible with the tube doors we bought. For now we're living with the stick-on mirrors on the AC vents.

The tubes I have are made by smitty and the Q-tech site listed smitty as one of the brands that had been verified to be compatible with the "door fill plates with bumpers". This is the round piece that goes in the factory holes in your door. I didn't look at anything on the door before ordering a set to go on my tubes. When the arrived, they didn't fit. After the disappointment, I found I don't need them anyway. The mirrors function flawlessly with the tubes. Now, if you are talking about not being able to see the mirror because of location, they sit right where the o.e mirrors do. I can't imagine any tube door blocking more than the factory door do?
