Doors off... tried to buy Harley mirrors....

Sheesh. I had a rotten experience with a couple of guys at a Harley Chop Shop today. Drove up there - newly doorless - to pick up some mirrors to stick in the hinge. Can't use the windshield bolts, 'cause that's where my rack attaches... and I don't want to mess with it. I've read here about those Harley mirrors working just fine...

Them: Help You?
Me: Hope so... would like to buy some mirrors for my jeep - do you have any take-offs you want to sell?
Them: Nope. Won't fit anyway.
Me: Well... I've got my jeep right out there, can I see what you do have?
Them: Won't be legal with DOT.
Me: More legal than no mirrors (now I'm starting to get annoyed with their stupid holier than thou freaking attitude...
Me: Can I just look at what you have puleeez?
Them: Over there.
Me: Can I try this one?
Them: Nope. You need to know what size you need.
Me: Walked out. Thanking them ever so sincerely for ALL their help.

Gawd - I just hate it when folks have to act like that.

As soon as I walked in to the Harley dealership, they asked me what model Harley I wanted to look at. I told them I didn't want a bike and was just looking for a mirror to fit on my Jeep. The salesman showed me the mirrors on the wall and walked away. Kinda rude, but whatever, I found the one that worked and got it for $20 bucks.

Made mine with a convex mirror and a bike hook. Works like a champ.
Pics are in the thread "what you did for your jeep today". Cost less then $15.

Look up Adam Corolla on Harley riders on YouTube. (strong language, be warned). Kinda sums up how I feel about 90% of Harley riders.

Well, regardless..... of those jerks.....

I'm driving around with a stupid grin on my face - feeling like a kid again..... But I really must get some tomorrow... no problem turning around and looking over my right shoulder, but the left side is more difficult.. and if there is a need to change lanes abruptly (driving in beach towns - So Cal) it's kinda un-nerving... I'd do the ebay thing, but headed to Mex on Thursday. No time.
And yes..... how can folks in *this economy* turn away business???? Go figure.

Funny mentioning Harley people.

Was at a red light the other day. A dude and his girl (on Harley's) were across from
me-I was turning left. Turned green, I did not even have a second to put the jeep in gear, this stupid broad throws here hand in the air and yells "C MON" was like
"F*** U"
I took that left as slow as I could. Freaken a**holes

Well..... I have friends that ride hogs.... good folks. Known many throughout the years. I suppose any *group* of people has its bad eggs. And these 2 guys at the shop today just thought they were too cool for school....

I ride a Hog also. The great majority are very nice folks just having fun with that experience. Every user group has some narrow minds, EXCEPT on this forum of course!

You might want to put the doors back on because it is supposed to be around 116 degrees in Mexicali on Thursday. It was a pleasant 112 today but I still rode my motorcycle to work.

Um, I live right on the coast..... so, it may be warm, but we are literally on the bluff. So - never does get too hot. We are at K41.5, and it's suweeeeeet

However... I will put the doors/tops on for the drive down. And most likely leave them on whilst there. Thanks for the heads up though!

how are you guy mounting them?

I have harley and I'm 23 its riders that give "hog riders" a bad name. Much like sport bikes get the whole speed demon, think they are invincible wrap.

Call me lazy, but I prefer to just mail order when possible. I ordered mine from Amazon and it was delivered 2 or 3 days later. Granted, I paid $35 when I may have been able to find it locally for $20, but I figure convenience and "saved aggravation" are worth something.
