Not sure if mine needs batteries. I got it in 2007 and it's still working fine. Maybe a climate thing.

Centered and placed just below the rear view mirror so it's stuck several inches below the Jeep Grill Logo on windshield. Never had an issue with E-Z Pass on my DD.

Put mine in the bottom left corner of the windshield. The inspection sticker is to the right of the mirror and I didn't want this on the left because it would block the light sensor for the mirror. Worked so far. No issues on OH, NY, MA or NH tolls.

Mine works 99% of the time just sitting in my tray on the dash. For the times it doesn't, I chalk it up to their readers not being able to detect the transponder.

One example, I went onto the Ohio turnpike and the gate didn't lift, spit out a ticket. Since no one was around, I backed up behind the big white reader, drove through again and nothing. Spit out a ticket and I was on my way. I stuck the transponder in the arm rest in the plastic tray as I wouldn't need it. When I arrived at my exit, I went to the booth with the toll gate operator and the gate lifted. The operator said the reader detected my transponder and she would have to write down the number to ensure I don't get charged full price for it not reading when I entered the other gate. If my transponder can be detected inside the arm rest with my arm over the top it should have detected it while up by the windshield.

I keep mine in the center console and when I get to a toll I just pull it out and place it by the inspection sticker, that seems to work.

I go through 4 tolls a day and it seems to fail at different ones every other day. Was told it was due to the flatness of the windshield. They sent me some extra attachments and suggested it be mounted at more of an angle with respect to the windshield.

Still falls now they charge an extra buck every time their automated plate reader has to look it up.

EZ Pass Fix

Wanna hear something funny? I was unable to use it anywhere close to the windshield, out the window holding it, etc. so frustrated, I stuck it in my armrest..... VOILA!!! works like a charm....IN the armrest! See if it works for you!

Interesting this is a thread....I thought my tag was just going bad, but mine reads at maybe half of the tolls. When I got my JK I never updated my ezpass to the new plate and kept getting toll violations. Once I updated it I haven't since. Guess it's a jeep thing... Oh well.

I have mine in the lowest drivers side corner of the windshield. All was well until I got my lift last week. since then I'm reading at about 75%. I might have to opt for the license plate mount, since I need it everyday on the NJ Turnpike.

The folks at Rhode Island EZPass recommended that I buy the front license plate mounted one. Its a little more expensive but less noticeable and seems to work good.
