Engine noise insulation different between models?

So i was reading an article online, and it stated that the Sahara has increased engine insulation under the hood when compared to Sport or Rubicon. I had always thought they were all the same, can anyone fill me in on this?

The Sahara has an insulated blanket stuck to the underside of the hood.

Can anyone with a sport model confirm the presence of an insulated blanket under the hood?

In one of the information threads there was a link to a PDF which shows all of the standard equipment for the 2012's (including the Right Hand Drive model). I have it printed off...the name on the top of the document is:
2012 Jeep Wrangler - Standard Equipment - July 1, 2011

Hood insulation (HGA) is standard on the Rubi and Sahara only.

I went looking when I hydrolocked my engine. When I got it back, the insulation was mud covered and sagging, so I check on Mopar.com. It's so expensive, that I can't even remember how much it was. I took the insulation down, hosed/scrubbed and let it dry flat. I've thrown alot of money into my rig, and I couldn't bring myself to pay that much for it.

Anyone have any leads on buying hood insulation for a Sport? I tried finding it on Mopar by telling it I had a Rubi or Sahara but it doesn't look like you can buy it that way. Is it something that's even worth bothering with?

Depending on price of it, better fabricating one yourself, or new heat reduction hood altogether. I have always noticed heat reduction items have higher price tags, by quite a bit.

If my Rubi didn't have it that would have been fine with me. I wouldn't bother with it.

It seems the engines produce alot of heat. Why would you want to insulate the hood to hold it in?

My thoughts exactly. Plus its not like it would reduce engine noise in the cab.

It's pretty much worthless.

Under hood insulations original purpose, was to shield the hood from engine fires and then !!!!melt down to smother immediate fire-or at least inhibit the progression of "said fire"-untill safety measures could be taken !

Really has nothing to do with heat/noise !

Probably don't do much for noise in the cab. The 12 models should all have it to help with that ticking noise we hear so much about!

The insulation was to help extinguish a fire.

Really, I read it on another jeep forum, it must be true!!

The insulation might have a purpose to a mall crawler which doesn't ever lose it's top or doors, but for everyone else, it is just added weight that will hold in heat.

Cool, another neat mod that involves removing stuff!
I guess I was just getting warmed up when I took off the air dam and ordered those stubby bumper caps!
