Finally Got It All Done!

Put the AEV bumper and air induction hood on two weeks ago. Got the RK 2.5" Stock Mod Lift with Nitto Trail Grapplers (295/70/18) and Spidertrac spacers on yesterday, and put the Smittybilt Oversized Carrier on today. The only thing I have left this week is to put the RK LCA's on when they come in. The AEV rear bumper and winch is left, but the wallet will have to recover a bit.

Very stoked! Time to have a little OR fun. Wait till the wife gets home tomorrow, as she hasn't been home for two weeks. She's going to shite herself!! Either that or knock me out as she may not be able to get in due to being pregnant as this is her DD, but that's what step ladders are for.

Looks great. Any issues installing the AEV bumper? I plan on getting one in January after my wallet has a little time off

Thanks for the replies guys. I wouldn't have done a lot of this without the assistance of the forum.

But I also agree Rics. Its kind of like my Harley, you just never get to the end until you sell it, then start all over again. Maybe its a 'married' thing, where you always have to engage in a 'distraction' to keep things healthy.

Anyhow, to answer a couple of the questions.

The Nittos are not as loud as I thought they might be. I can hear the tread when coming to a stop, but not much louder than the stockers, that I can hear anyway. I really like the look. The RK 2.5" Stock Mod has me 3/4" higher in the front than in the back after the spare tire and carrier were added. I'm hoping that the coils will settle a bit and the front end will drop some. If not, I can deal with 3/4", not bad at all. I think that because the back end has more wheel well shielding than the front, it 'looks' lower anyway. I can always add a 1" coil spacer to the back later if needed.

In regard to the bumper, I put it on by myself. So the weight isn't all that bad, just have to remember not to ding up your front end when setting it up before bolting in. Very easy to do because it fits so well to the stock fenders. Aside from some things being left off of the instructions or not completely clear, it wasn't that difficult, just time consuming. I had to drill 4 1/2" holes, where the instructions only say to drill 2. One in the front and side on both ends. I didn't have the right drill bit, as you'll be sitting there forever if you have a garden variety 1/2" bit. Titanium is the only way to go. I used the stock air dam for aesthetics, as I don't have the cash just yet for a proper skid plate. Had to trim it about 4 inches on each side and drill a few holes to secure it. Its actually more secured than the way it was bolted on from the factory. So, if you have the right tools and enough common sense to get by the omitted parts, its not bad at all.

Thanks. I had the painter at the dealership hit them with an acid etch primer and then a sweet Satin black. They really make a nice contrast to the gloss red.

Man, what a good looking Jeep!

That hood was a nice choice - I think it adds a lot to your rig.

I'd be interested in any feed back you have concerning the hood, it is one of the mods I am most interested in right now.

Let me know what questions you have. I've heard some asking about it raining into the mesh into the engine compartment. That has happened a few times as it rains here constantly. No issues to speak of. You can see a nice heat mirage coming out sitting at a light or whatever. So its definitely working as it should.

If you want to save a couple hundred, buy it primed for $799 and take it somewhere to be painted. The dealer was surprised that it arrived undamaged. The painter was telling me that 6 out of 10 hoods shipped to them always have some kind of damage which was surprising.

LOL...yeah, I've got a hoist in the garage. Between the garage alignment this morning, Oversize tire carrier at noon, and my Harley ride for the tots in the afternoon, no time for the top. Next weekend for sure. The Florida sun eats those soft tops for breakfast.

And don't let the 5 minutes of sun fool you. Rained a half a dozen times on and off today. Just enough to slick up the roads and raise the humidity to sauna levels.

Forgot to mention, that my rig is taller than a Hummer H2 now. Had one sitting at a light today dressed out in H2 emblems all over the tail lights, markers, and skid plate. Between the low profile tires, gold accents, and parking lights, I was looking for the disco ball hanging from the rear view, but couldn't quite see in as his roof was getting in the way.

Very nice. I like the body color fenders but out here they would be toast and pinstriped to the nines. Not sure about the AEV bumper. I have the ARB and it has tighter lines but AEV makes some awesome products. I have a couple of things to add and my rig will be done..a bug guard and the backup cam link that !Negates the safety features on the 430 & 730N! so you can type in destinations, music, and watch movies while in motion. I can't wait for that. I hate the thought of backing up in a parking lot over anyone, especially elderly or little kids I can't see no matter how slow or careful I go. That scares the daylights out of me.
