Fire Extinguisher Recommendations?

I want to add a 2.5 lb fire extinguisher to the rear compartment's "roll" bar.

We already have a dry chem extinguisher (charged) in the house, and I have one in our bass boat. So I could just purchase some kind of a mount and take one of those (cheap solution). But I don't really want to squirt dry chem over everything either. Have been looking at clean agent (halon), especially if a fire is on the inside. Engine compartment too. But there appears to be different types of halon/clean agent extinguishers as well.

For those who have an extinguisher, what did you choose for both type, quantity and mount?

I'm no expert, but AFAIK halon is no longer manufactured because it very effectively depletes ozone. Any halon you buy now is either old or recycled, and its use is mostly limited to sensitive environments like airplanes.

I have used a 2.5lb Amerex Halotron (B/C) to put out an engine fire. Haloton is one of the many modern alternatives to Halon. Put the fire out, no mess, less environmental impact. But it's pricey and refills/recharges aren't readily available for consumers, so if you use it you need to buy another one.

That said, I'd rather spend money on extinguishers every now and then than trying/failing to clean corrosive residue on expensive components. So not only did I buy another one, I went up to a 5lb.

I'm also planning on getting a cheapo ABC to cover my bases.

Don't use dry chem extinguishers on your vehicle the powder residue that they leave behind can ruin automotive electronics (not to mention a bitch to clean off of components-surfaces). You want a clean agent fire extinguisher like the 2.5 HalGuard.

I put a 1.4 H3R Halguard under the seat: https://www.ocabj.net/drake-off-road...angler-jk-jku/

I am planning on mounting a 2.5lb in the rear on one of my Springtail sideracks, but have yet to do so.

Element fire extinguisher

Anyone use this or heard anything positive/negative about it?

Just bought it.

Sounds pretty good based on the video. I like the fact that it cost half of what a halguard and runs for 25 or 50 seconds depending on which one you buy. Also leaves no residue.

This is what I run: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Halotron won't damage components. If you are going camping for example, grab a 5lb ABC one to bring with you but the Halotron is the leave in the jeep, go everywhere, always ready to save your rig.

Thank you. I saw this once years ago and could never find it again. The size and location you have is perfect.

I've got a 2.5lb halguard clean agent for my Jeep and a 5lb abc for everything else. You can't be too careful when it comes to fire.
