Friends and family/employee pricing?

How do you go about presenting this when looking to buy? I have never bought new and was chatting with a dealer through their website inquiring on a JKU priced at $32,755 (which matches the price of the same build on Jeep's website). With the friends and family discount he said that would put the price at $29,900. I have heard to get a rough estimate of invoice price to multiply msrp by .93 which makes invoice $30,462. This makes the price of 29,900 about 2% below msrp if i'm doing my math correct, most posts on here say 1-3% below invoice is a good deal...I guess my question here is can you get more wiggle room on the price when using a family discount or is that the most I can get? Do you mention that right off the bat or hold off? Thanks for any info!

You can get the exact invoice price on places like cars.com or Edmunds. Build one on one of those sites exactly how you want it and at the end it shows you the MSRP and the invoice.

You can buy it for 1% below invoice using the Affiliate Rewards program. If your company isn't on the list you can join someplace like Tread Lightly and use the discount after you've been a member for at least 30 days.

If you use a discount program to purchase your new Jeep be careful if you have something to trade. They probably won't offer you as much for it.

Employee Pricing worked pretty good for me. It does eliminate all the haggling. They will show you the invoice and employee pricing is printed right on the invoice. They did try to low-ball me on my trade, so I held out. Two days later she (the sales rep) called me and asked what I wanted on my trade. I told her which was the KBB value and she said she would give it to me. I told her we have a deal, have the Jeep ready in the morning I would be down to sign papers. Well she didn't have it ready, but I did drive it home at noon. 2% below invoice is fair with no haggle. Just hold out if you have a trade.

Invoice price is around 7-8% off sticker... make sure you get the trade-in value you want. Yes there is wiggle room still. If you are financing, the dealer gets a kickback from the loan (if there is interest).

Great deals are to be had. It pays to walk out a few times, it worked for me. Good luck.

Ok, 1 more comment. Go to the bank FIRST. Get a credit-approval for 30-40 whatever, with a low int. rate. After that, just ignore the finance guy, check the numbers, sign the papers and leave.
