Gas cap

Has anyone had problems with OEM gas cap? Im getting a gas cap warning and it is still tight and sealed. I jump out and check it, go back in, reset warning. It stays off until I cut my jk off and turn it back on.

When you fill up tighten the cap until 1-3 clicks. Do not over tighten!!

That is what I do. No more than 3 clicks after fill up. Then, if I have to make a stop and cut engine off, I get the gascap warning

It happens. If it's not under warranty get a new cap. If it is the dealer will take care of it.

Just a side note, you can't over-tighten the gas cap. It has some type of friction clutch, so once it is tight enough, you can turn and turn to your heart's content.... and all you will do is hear the clicking.

I'm having same issue...getting gas cap warning light. Searched forum, tried remedy of wiping down cap & filler neck. Worked for a bit then came back. Bought a new cap. Still getting warning light.

Also getting the engine warning light too--are the two related?

I have cleared the fault codes as well with my handy-dandy plug in deal...but still getting the faults. Any clues?

Well, what do you do when OEM cap has problems and after market has same problem? Unless problem is caused by something other than bad gas cap? But the warning light says "gas cap" and not "check something other than gas cap".

Finally solved the issue. $20 for new evap sys integrity monitor but it didn't come with the rubber seal. So after installing I still got same error messages (gas cap plus check engine light).
$5 for seal and gas cap error went away immediately. Check engine light went away after a few days of driving even though I tried to reset all the error codes with my pro cal tool.
Good times!
