Hi there Vancouver/BC Jeepers... Some questions!
I have some questions for you guys in the greater Vancouver area. After many visits now, my wife and I seem to be moving to Van next year. Sure thing, I plan to get and build a JKR and would like to find out if there are any good shops around to get specific mods done. Mostly lift, re-gearing and other axle work (truss, C’s, sleeves, ball joints... for 37”) is my concern... most of the other mods can be done by myself or pretty much any decent car shop. Purchasing most parts from either local shops/vendors or shipping in from US vendors shouldn’t be an issue, I hope!
Are there any specific shops you can recommend?
Or, do you guys make a trip to a good shop across the boarder to the US, like the Seattle area or so and get it all done there? If so, ever had any issues with customs coming back into Canada? It’s obviously quite difficult to see most changes/mods/work which was done, but how is it in reality? Current exchange rate and the fact that pretty much all parts (and labor) are much more expensive in Canada, still, worth it?
Also, how are the laws in Canada, mostly regarding tire size (37”) and fender width and the related wheel/tire overhang/sticking out too far issue? How about stubby/crawler front bumper & rear bumper, such allowed, or are full size bumpers front and rear a must?
Any other major diffs to the US laws and such enforcement?
Regarding buying a JK, how is the used market? Good possibilities, or better to buy/order a new one? Where to look for used ones? Any dealer to recommend for new or used?
Or, how about importing a used and already customized one from the US? After converting to Canada specs (???), possible and worth it?
All info really appreciated!
Thanks a bunch!!!
